Yes that was good! Dr. Manhattan sure is powerful as hell!! Looking forward the conclusion of this massive and epic series!
The Kew Gardener's Guide to Growing House Plants:The art and science to grow your own house plants (Kew Experts)
Kay Maguire, Kew Royal Botanic Gardens, Jason Ingram
3,5/5. Good enough reference book about plant. At first it present the basis knowledge about plant and how to take care of them and after it show a variety of plant with specific information on each of them. Good, well done, easy to understand but at the same time, its strength is also its weakness, because it is a bit too simple in its information and for the plants well, it present a good variety but if the plant you are interested in aren't there... well... So good but limited book, would be a nice introduction and companion for the newcomers but nothing more then that!
I haven't read Spirou comic in years and reading this one I understand was. It just isn't for me. I do recognize its qualities and understand the fans that this series have for years now. The illustrations are classic but beautiful, the stories is more or less what every Spirou bring to the table, and... that's it. It's a bit like the Tintin, we don't reinvent the wheel in any issues but we put to work a well know and use recipes. I think the Spirou fan will like that one (personnal appreciation 2/5, potential 4/5, it'll have to go with 3/5).
2,5/5. Everything's great... except the plot. I mean, it's well illustrated, the main character is bad-ass and sexy, full of clichés, but good enough to be entertaining and it has good and strong action. Unfortunately there is mostly no plot just a bunch of idea/concept/action scene put together with some «back-story» to make it look deep. It was still a brain-off entertainment, but nothing to make me want to know more about the character or to continue the series.
Unfortunately not as good as the first one! In the first, the message was a strong point for me and in this one it just isn't there anymore. We're in a lighter ton in this second volume, more action, less story, in a more easy entertainment I would say. Don't get me wrong I still love it and it an original and funny piece of work, but just not at the high level of the first. I still recommend it for its unique style. Good work!
First time reading this author that sure get a lot of love and... maybe this book doesn't reflect his style, I might try another one one day, but I don't get the hype. I would have like, and thought it would be, a more serious/philosophical book, maybe some humor yes but here it's 95% easy humor and 5% actual content... I wasn't ready for that. If you like this kind of book then you should try it, but if you're looking for some deeper thoughts and thinking about life/fatherhood and the future of your children, you should pass. Once again against the majority here but I really didn't like this book!
Cute little story about bees and what they do. It gives informations but they are very very simplify for the understanding of young children so its more or less an informative book. Nonetheless the pretty illustration, the little story/day life of a bee and some informative work were enough to make this book a good pick if you want to read to your child about bees.
First I need to say that I read this book on my kindle and that the .mobi file was so badly edited that it became a negative factor in my appreciation. Basic stuff like sub-title being put in evidence (underling, bigger letters, different script, etc.) were not always use. The bottom note appear most of the time in the middle of the page randomly, and other stuff like that.
For the content of the book. It has strong and solid information about beers, from historical perspective, to how to brew, it has a lot. The problem was with the organization, the author just go from here, to there, came back here and then fall back into history to explain how she brews and back again. It just shoot in every direction and lack a proper structure that would have made it easier and way better to read. Anyway the contents is good and if you don't mind going around searching a bit to find your way, the information make it worth it, but the edition should have work a bit harder on this one!
