I wasn't really sure about this book but wanted to have a look anyway. I finished it and I'm still a bit unsure. It was a very complete survival guide, like the author really take the time to think about a lot of things. It also has a good touch of humor. My problem with it is the fact that it became repetitive really fast. I was expecting it would happen and it did. It still a good book to have if you're a hardcore zombie fan but can say it will be remember by future generation. At the same time, and final point, you can't really expect so much from this kind of humoristic guide so... 3 stars!
4,5/5. This may well be the last book I will finish in 2018. And it a good way to end the year. This book is good, but you got to approach it in a different way. At first I was rushing through it, looking forward to discover and read it all, but at some point I realize that this wasn't the best way to read this book. You have, I think, to read it slow, maybe not as slow has George R. R. Martin write but close. This is't a novel, this is a history book of a fictional world. So much name (and so many characters with the same name), place, family, and details. It's also marvelously well illustrated and has a great family trees that is complex but really helpful when you have taken the time to understand how it works. This book shows just how complex and solid this world is and how the author has it, or at least it look like it, figure it all out in his head. It will have at least another one because it covers a more or less half the time line between Aegon conquest and the Robert rebellion, so there is a lot too cover and I think the second may be even more interesting because we will begin to see name and characters from A Song of Ice and Fire. One more thing, this book is definitely center on the Targaryen but we also learn a lot about other House, we seem some rise and others falls and it's again really interesting. Of course the still and form of history book make it a slow read and a slow experience, and it's also a difficult read, you have to concentrate and focus if you want to be able to follow it all, so it won,t be for everybody and the casual shows fans won't like it. I think it for the hardcore fans, not only of the TV shows, but of the books and the amazing world that Martin has create . Completely worth it!
Uncanny X-Men (2018) #8
Kelly Thompson, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Ed Brisson, R.B. Silva, Matt Rosenberg
First comic of 2019 and a strong start. Story evolving, slowly but alright and there is a lot of action. I also enjoy the big variety of characters in this series so far but old and new X-Men and villains. So far so good for the new Uncanny series!
Not much happening in this one. I still love en enjoy the series of course but this issue for itself was a bit too slow for me. Lets hope it pick up in the next one!
Really funny!! A big collection of cartoons/sketches, one page each, with only one sentences to go with it. They all are relates to books, bookstores, edition world, etc. Good humor, some easter eggs kid of thing here and there, some jokes you got to have some knowledge of author or their works to gets but books lovers should get them easily and also enjoy. I love it!
2,5/5. This is a hard book to review in a constructive way. Not that it is that bad, it just hasn't a lot of thing that are great and nothing that is completely failed either. Everything is a big average and that is the feeling we get when we close the book. The intrigue, the characters, the settings, everything is just average. I think that the writer might be promising but we feel the lack of experience here and that writing more and more could improve that. The writing style really just feels to descriptive / factual for my personal taste. We too often go through long passage that alternate between dialogue and action descriptive sequence (like the character goes there, he made that, then go there, etc.). I first I had trouble to really get what was bothering me, but then it hits me, it was the absence of thinking (on society, humans, life, or anything) and the inner psychology of the characters. That is often what I like the most while reading book, to really get in the head of the characters and see their vision of the world through their eyes, and here we don’t get that much, for some reader this might not be negative maybe even positive) but for me it was a big minus. There was also a lack of personal style that made the book look very generic and that is not a good thing in a market where there is ton and ton of books and that you want to stand out to be seen and read.
I'm no Conan expert. I never read comic or the original book he is from. The only think I know is the old movie with Arnold that I watched as a kid. So kind of a newcomer here.
The illustrations have a old school classic style which fit well with the genre and the story. The story just seem to be on a loop a bit at the end so not sure where it's going. Can't say I'm disappointed but I'm not impress either. I will read some more to get my mind on it, but... isshh...hmmmm... not really sure yet!

3,5/5. What was looking at something original ends up being more or less a classic romance/love story. So the story wasn't really for me. But I still enjoy too things a lot. First, the illustrations style was great. Even if it's kind of minimalist it is still full of emotion and... can explain why but it really get to me. Second, I love those passages where the character is alone and there is no text at all, just her, alone in the world, I really felt the loneliness and the emotion in those pages. So not much my style of story, but I still love it and enjoy the artwork of it all. probably better illustrated then written.
This series is just marvelous!! And it has a praise by J. K. Rowling on the cover. What do you need more to start reading it! Seriously this is the best old kids/ young teens book/series since Harry Potter! Nothing less! It is fun, has very original characters, we don't fall into stupid clichés and stereotypes, it has a solid and dark story and I just having a great time reading it. Highly recommend!!
