Fire & Blood
by George R.R. Martin
4,5/5. This may well be the last book I will finish in 2018. And it a good way to end the year. This book is good, but you got to approach it in a different way. At first I was rushing through it, looking forward to discover and read it all, but at some point I realize that this wasn't the best way to read this book. You have, I think, to read it slow, maybe not as slow has George R. R. Martin write but close. This is't a novel, this is a history book of a fictional world. So much name (and so many characters with the same name), place, family, and details. It's also marvelously well illustrated and has a great family trees that is complex but really helpful when you have taken the time to understand how it works. This book shows just how complex and solid this world is and how the author has it, or at least it look like it, figure it all out in his head. It will have at least another one because it covers a more or less half the time line between Aegon conquest and the Robert rebellion, so there is a lot too cover and I think the second may be even more interesting because we will begin to see name and characters from A Song of Ice and Fire. One more thing, this book is definitely center on the Targaryen but we also learn a lot about other House, we seem some rise and others falls and it's again really interesting. Of course the still and form of history book make it a slow read and a slow experience, and it's also a difficult read, you have to concentrate and focus if you want to be able to follow it all, so it won,t be for everybody and the casual shows fans won't like it. I think it for the hardcore fans, not only of the TV shows, but of the books and the amazing world that Martin has create . Completely worth it!
