This graphic novel begins focusing on a young female god named Kiddo, who created Early Earth. Kiddo was the daughter of the god, BirdMan. Kiddo liked watching her humans and thought they were perfect. But when BridMan sees her humans sinning, he wants them to worship the gods, to fear them. So he takes over. There's just one thing he didn't account for; love.

The book then dives into a story where a man named Manfred who believes there are no good women that live up to his incredible standards. Jerome disagrees, and the two end up making a wager; if Manfred can seduce Jeromes wife within 100 nights, he will get Jeromes castle and his wife. If he loses, Jerome gets Manfred wife. What the two don't know is that Jeromes wife, Cherry, is actually in love with her maid, Hero. Hero overheard the plan and the two start trying to figure out how they are going to outsmart the men.

The plan? Tell stories to keep Manfred distracted and occupied until the 100 days pass. But can they do it?

I cruised through this book very quickly and I loved every second of it! The first thing that drew me in was the artwork. It was so different from the graphic novels that I am used to and I thought it was very captivating. There were lots of bold lines and striking colors. However, there were only a handful of colors that were included, which I think really added to the overall beauty of the illustrations.

The writing was so lovely! I thought that it all flowed very well and I really enjoyed how everything came back around in a perfect resolution at the end. The tone was light for the majority of the story, but there were a handful of times that it turned a bit dark.

I absolutely loved the occasional sarcasm and all of the breaking of the fourth wall. For example, sometimes the narrator would comment on the story in a way that broke normal narration, like the narrator didn't know what was going to happen next. Once a character responded to the narrator directly and other characters overheard and questioned what he was doing. And numerous times, characters mentioned the plot of the story like they knew they were all in a story that was supposed to go from point a to point b.

I would definitely recommend this! It was such a fun and quick read, and the illustrations were wonderful. 5 stars!

My favorite passages:

... she just smiled, and kneeling beside him, she took his face and her cold little hands, and kissed his mouth. Well, it would not be possible to describe to you that kiss. But it is enough to say that it change the man, and he was lost to her.

Well, you and I know that in any good story like this, the mystery can only be solved by a plucky hero, youngest son type. But of course a great surplus of cocky princes turned up first, and one by one failed. Well, enter our plucky hero.

So wonderful! But just like the other two... I can't believe how much of this book I had forgotten! It was exciting though, to re-live the action! Now, on to book 4!

While re-reading this book, I was amazed at how much I had forgotten! Can't wait to re-read book 3!

I could read this book over and over a hundred times and it would never get old.

**Full disclaimer, I have already watched the Revenge series on TV.** I LOVED this book. Of course I will never know if I liked it so much because I had watched the show...or if I would have liked it without watching the show. Schooled In Revenge was a quick read for me and I found it extremely enjoyable. I had a very hard time putting it down, so I read it in just a few sittings. I thought that the author captured the tone and action of the TV show wonderfully! To those that pick this up expecting it to be just like the show: the story is NOT about the main characters of the TV show. Emily Thorne does make a few appearances, but this story follows five new individuals as they train with Takeda to get revenge on those that wronged them. When I read the very last page, I immediately wanted a book 2! I hope the author is working on one!! I highly recommend this to anyone that has read the show, or anyone that likes stories about revenge. My favorite excerpt from the book: "Some things cannot be fixed," Takeda said, stopping at her side. "We can only let them go."

** So... First of all, if you haven't heard Aziz do any of his stand up, I highly suggest that you go check him out so you can read this book in his voice!! **

After reading just the first two sentences ("OH, shit! Thanks for buying my book."), I knew I was going to love it. For those of you that have heard Aziz, you totally read that quote in his voice, didn't you? :)

The information and studies that were included in this book were extremely interesting. Some of them were a bit shocking to me, a few made me angry or sad, while others made me think, "YES! WE NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE THIS GUY/GIRL!" I read this book in just a couple of sittings because I was so interested in learning more!

To those that know me, it's not surprising that I have very strong feelings about technology and how it affects the dating process (see my personal note below). I, personally, wasn't looking for any kind of relationship advice when I picked up this book. I was just interested to see Aziz's take on "Modern Romance." However, I found that his book sparked quite a few interesting conversations with my boyfriend. So whether your are single, committed, or in a complicated relationship, there will be surprising and helpful advice in this book for you whether you are looking for it or not. I found myself getting angry and upset during some bits (specifically the parts about cheating), but overall I found this book to be extremely enjoyable and VERY funny!

Trust me, if you've dated in the "modern" world, you are going to find a lot of this book absolutely hysterical. Maybe you'll learn a thing or two and maybe it will help your dating in the future! Also, once you've read this book, you have to check out his new show on Netflix, "Master Of None." You'll recognize quite a few scenes and situations int he show from his book. :)

Highly recommended to everyone!

A more personal note:
I think I may have reacted so strongly to certain parts of this because I met my boyfriend online, on match.com to be specific, and things are going wonderfully! To be totally honest, before I met Alex, I did see the dark side of online dating. I got creepy messages, I had stalkers, I had a few dates that went terribly, and I was about to cancel my match subscription. But the thing is...The same nasty things that were happening online were also happening in the "real world"! After sifting through the garbage online, I was able to see how amazing online dating can be if you take a positive approach.

SO for those of you about to give up, or not sure if you want to even try online dating- I say go for it! What can it hurt? Just be careful, be smart, don't be afraid to use the "block" button, don't engage with the nasties, and have fun with it! Also keep in mind that this process takes time- just because you're online doesn't mean you'll get the instant gratification like you're so used to. Finding a good match takes time and plenty of face-to-face human interaction rather than just screen time. Let online platforms begin the process, but never underestimate the importance of spending time together.

I had trouble getting into the beginning of this story because it gives you a bit of history. But once Loki got his bodily form, I was hooked! Joanne M. Harris did such a fantastic job capturing the character of Loki! I highly recommend this book to any marvel fan!

Oh my gosh, I didn't want this story to end!! By page 12 I was already saying that I LOVE this book, and it held strong- I absolutely loved everything about it. The storyline was fantastic, the artwork was wonderful, the characters strong in each of their roles. Nimona's character was cracking me up on every other page, and the interactions between her and Lord Ballister Blackheart were so perfect. I highly recommend this book!

I LOVED this book! The characters were wonderful, the storyline was interesting, and the casual interruption to have the Hitchhikers Guide narrate to teach you more about the galaxy was perfect. Marvin, the poor depressed robot, was my favorite. :)

YOU HAVE TO READ THIS!

Chapter 5, "Friendship to the Craft" was good. It had dinosaurs and friendship bracelets (what a combo!).

Chapter 6, "Jail Break," was so amazing!! So over-the-top dramatic in a absolutely hysterical way!! (I think this was my favorite chapter of the series so far!)

Chapter 7, "Friendship to the Max," shows us why the campers have been running into so many mysterious situations... and then they find themselves smack dab in the middle of another one.

Chapter 8, "Space Jamborie," was so so so good! In this chapter, Ripley becomes the all powerful and what she does with that power is amazing.

Favorite lines:

"RUN!"-Jen
"Yeah, we know!"-One of the campers

"Come with us if you want to NOT get eaten by a raptor!"-April

"Diane, no! it's dangerous to go alone!"-Camper

"Someone tell me what's going on or I am going to freak out, no one else is freaking out the appropriate amount right now."-Mal
