Kiera Cass just really gets me with those endings, man.

Video review soooooon

edit July 18th: the first second books of this series feels so different to me. knocking down a star on this one because I remember just feeling "meh" about the characters and storyline. now that I've read the second book, my opinion and feelings on the first has changed and I know better where it sits on my personal rating scale.

review of all my thoughts coming to my youtube channel soon! make sure you're subscribed to see it; link is on my profile! :)

This book was like a huge cross between Rush (eve silver) and Twilight (you know the author). I'd probably give this 4.5 if it hadn't been for ALL THE TYPOS WTF. The writing wasn't quite the best either, so 4 stars it is! *edit*: looking back, this is a 3 star for me :)
Definitely a guilty pleasure read, since the world isn't complex at all. I'd recommend this if you like Twilight, Rush, The Selection, and New Adult type books.

4.5*
I will never be able to properly review this book cause my FEELS ARE SO STRONG
I did find this book lacking a bit in plot, but the character development was amazing and the ending was perfect. ugh I had no idea what a guilty pleasure this series would be.

While I still really like the story, this second book felt like a throw-away. If you split it in have and put one at the end of The Selection, and one at the beginning of The One, I'm sure it would've been just fine. 3/5 stars.

THIS BOOK is exactly what I needed to get out of my reading slump. I hear a lot about this book, some good, some bad, but I never really felt drawn to reading it. After finishing a book super emotionally draining, I wanted something I didn't really have to think about; and this was it! Not that it doesn't have good points in it; they're just not hard to find, get it? Sometimes you need to read things like that.
I also loved the Bachelor-like situation. (I'm a sucker for reality tv and The Bachelor is one of my favourites!) Throw in a prince and dystopian, fear-inducing situation and you've got The Selection! It's fun, easy, and great for reading slumps! If you're on the fence about it, just go for it!
P.S. I love Maxon.

Leave it to Brandon Sanderson to end a book like that. Damn, I need to read Hero of Ages ASAP.

I must read Heir of Fire this minute!

I was super bored until we got into the second last part. Even then, I was a little bored. I still loved Rick Yancey's writing, though, so I had to give it at least 3 stars.
I think these books are really well done, I just have a hard time connecting with the characters and I find the world building to come at us all at once without warning.
I'll still be reading the 3rd book, just maybe with less enthusiasm.
