I am not in the headspace to read about stuff that happened in 2016
I can't pinpoint what exactly about this book rubs me the wrong way.
Thinking more about it... It's probably the blatant disrespect for people's spirituality and beliefs. The characters are magical in a they have powers sense. So, I'd understand if the characters were upset by non magical people practicing spiritual magic. But to have the characters consistently diss it while simultaneously using tarot as a motif and chapter names is a bit weird to me.
It made me angry in the uncomfortable I don't want to be in this room kind of way.
It has its good parts. The gender differences in this book feel so unique and realistic. Unapologetic is a better word for it. And the premise is amazing. Trans witches going up against AI sounds so cool.
I just convinced myself to continue reading this book right now. It's almost put me in a reading slump and I don't want that.
Disappointed because I was so excited to read this book.

The digital arc I received from NetGalley was causing too much strain on my eyes for me to continue the book in digital format. I'm going to see if the local public library will be able to get a copy.

The digital copy I was reading on hoopla was too blurry to read comfortably. I will try again with a physical copy.
I cannot handle stories with Nazis with today's political climate. May there be a day when I can read this book. The music is beautiful and I want to know what happens next. But for my own mental health I will not continue at this time.
The first story is fairly disturbing especially considering the age of the characters involved
I cannot mentally handle some of the more difficult subject matter in this book. It's hitting too hard and too close to home
Graphic: Toxic relationship, Transphobia, Sexual harassment
I don't want to read the book after everything that has come to light about the author and their past.
