I will read anything that Charlie N. Holmberg writes! Her worlds are so creative and weird with so much wonderful darkness.

Enna is a good character for this story. Though perhaps a couple of years older than I would have imagined her, she is appropriately daring and a brilliant combination of mature and naive given her circumstances. Her family's backstory is just enough to give some footing while still leaving substantial room for mystery and maybe a little reader confusion.

The dual POV approach is interesting at first, but works very well as the story unfolds. The majority of the tale is told from Enna's first person point of view, showing the reader her limitations while a smaller piece of the narrative is a third person view of Maekallus, the mysting to whom Enna has bound herself unwittingly. This second perspective gives just enough information to create increased tension in the narrative and makes the story just that much more interesting.

I loved this story very much, though I will admit that I would have loved for Enna's grandmother to have still been alive. I wanted more of her knowledge of the mystings as I found these pieces of the world incredibly fascinating. Holmberg's writing is just my style and I have yet to find a book of hers that I haven't loved. This was another weird and wonderful read.

Wonderful & beautiful. I loved this book so very much. It ended up being one of my two favorites for 2020 and I recommend it highly. This was my first read from Schwab and I adore her writing. It flows incredibly smoothly and I just felt completely wrapped in the story. The premise was intriguing and the execution was both unique and fascinating.

Everything felt real and believable as Addie shifted through time periods and locations. Her pathway of understanding her situation was tense, but oh so curious. I couldn't get enough. The relationship between Addie and Luc made my heart just ache. Apparently I'm just a sucker for the bad guy? I don't know, but Schwab's approach made me seriously care about all of the characters and just want the best for them all...yes...including Luc.

This is one of those books I could read over and over again, I am sure. I loved the feeling of the book from beginning to end and consider it to be one of those books that would be a good rainy day comfort read. Just watch your heart, because Addie's amazing and unusual life will make it strain and potentially break.

The Miss Peregrine's series continues to be a favorite. I wasn't sure that things would remain interesting after the first trilogy, but I was very mistaken. This book was excellent, just as good as the others. The series just continues to be SO good. The action is constant, the characters are entertaining and vibrant, and the concept is always just magical.

I loved the new characters in this book and the "Flaming Man" scenes were probably my favorite. I want to know MORE. I just can't get enough of the loops, I find them so continuously fascinating. I'm pretty sure I won't ever tire of this magical world and I will read anything that Ransom Riggs chooses to write.

I will admit that the ending is a serious cliffhanger and I'm glad I can pick up the next installment soon, but it's still so incredibly good that I really couldn't even be that mad if it wasn't already available. LOVE!

This is my favorite of the Wayward Children series thus far. It is quirky and whimsical with a touch of dark and a lot at stake. It's like The Wizard of Oz meets Greek mythology and it was awesome. I love how creative the worlds and the characters are. It's all just such fun. I'm able to fly through these books with just constant entertainment. There was a little lag in pacing a couple of times, but it was quickly resolved and then it was right back to the action and tension. I'm really enjoying Christopher's character and I hope there is an installment that will focus directly on him. However, all of the characters are intriguing and diverse and I love all of the different ways that McGuire has come up with for them to find their own worlds and discover themselves. This whole series is just a lot of fun.

I love how weird and creepy Kingfisher's books are. They aren't graphic and gory, but they've got enough spook to set me on edge if I read them in the dark. This tale is a little bit odd, but still great. The main character seemed perfectly on balance and realistic and I particularly enjoyed Foxy's personality. For being a 400 page novel, this certainly didn't feel that long. Great atmospheric content and a decent pace. This was the perfect book at the perfect time.
