While this wasn’t as compelling at the first book, it was still a fantastic read and a wild ride from start to finish!
So happy I finally got around to reading a book by this author! It definitely did not disappoint, I'm still feeling a little queasy hours after finishing this. This was my first time attempting to read a horror novel with my biggest phobia in it (body horror), and got the added bonus of having a second major phobia in there unexpectedly, though I can't say what it is without spoiling the book. I don't think I'll make a habit of reading books like this as it was really really difficult to get through, but it was an incredibly effective horror book for me so I'm glad I did. The imagery in here is GROSS and had me shuddering throughout the entire thing, it was so well written! I didn't really like the main character at first, and the tone of their narration felt off in relation to the content of the book, but after a while they grew on me and I couldn't picture this book being written any other way. What Moves the Dead was creepy, disgusting, got under my skin, and was exactly what I was looking for right now. Can't wait to check out more from T. Kingfisher!

This was surprisingly compelling! I was going to DNF about 30 pages in, but then all of a sudden I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. The characters were pretty good and I really enjoyed the plot, but the world building was mid and there was very little explanation into the magic system. But for some reason this was compulsively readable and I found myself continuing to turn pages despite my issues with it

Cozy and sweet, this was delightful! I did find the plot to be really predictable, and I wish the world building was a little stronger (repeated mentions of fair folk in this world but nothing expanded beyond just saying they exist). But other than that I loved it! The characters were great, I loved the descriptions of all the clothing and food, the friendships were wonderful, and of course the romance was good too!
I really liked the characters and the conflict in the office. But the amount of lies Ember told after the first couple of big ones was irritating and didn’t make any sense to me. Other than that though this was really good!
This is one of those special kinds of books that found a home in my heart within the first few pages
