What a fun, if slightly confusing, romp! The ending is blurred in my mind, but I really enjoyed the friendship building between Ampersand and Cora. Ampersand is by far the best character.

I enjoy Nora Roberts’ writing, and the friendship between the quartet makes this story shine. But I cannot get behind the toxic masculinity of Malcolm and that rushed ending. I guess people still get engaged to men who refuse to go to therapy.

This is a fast-paced novel in the style of Good Omens and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. However, it lacks the charm of these properties. It felt like most of the first 1/3 of the boon was about Simon ogling women and repeatedly reminding the reader that he is an incel. 

I liked this book better than Emma's book, but that's because I like Laurel better. Yet, her outbursts were a little out of nowhere sometimes and seemed to happen just for plot reasons. I also don't think that the class issue was handled particularly well. I probably would have rated this book higher if I weren't so put off by Del. If you enjoy a possessive, patronising trope, you will enjoy this book. Otherwise, you will dream of pieing Del in the face just as I did.

This was really cute, though it dragged a bit at times. Maybe this was because of the serialised nature of a web comic, a genre I had never read before. I found Lucy extremely frustrating in her self-effacement that borders on self-involvement, but I appreciate that the other characters called her out on it. This story tackles grief and friendship with a huge cast of characters and that was very ambitious. 

This was a really sweet cosy fantasy with a mystery twist. I don’t think this genre is for me, but this is far superior than other very popular titles in my opinion.

This book accompanies the best Christmas/Yuletide album. I have bought in years. I really appreciate the explanations of the songs and the beautiful illustrations.

This was delightful, as every Emily Henry books is. I didn't love the twist ending or the trope used at the end, but the Margaret's story was a great framing device for an enemies-to-lovers novel. Controversial yet brave: I prefer this book to Beach Read.

I didn't like this one as much as A Vision in White, mostly because the main characters annoyed me. This is a decent book if you enjoy the sunshine/commitment-phobe trope. I just thought there was way more toxic masculinity and body-shaming in this one. Not to mention the weird exoticisation of Emma's Mexican heritage. The only redeeming aspect is definitely the friendship between the Quartet.

This is a challenging one for me to review. I am completely sympathetic to paperon's argument, I just find it very hard to believe in it now that I've been working in academic DEI for a year. I'm truly not convinced scyborgs can be effective from the inside.
