overall a great introductory read! My main and biggest critique is that there isn’t discussion on non-able bodied individuals!

This book is unlike anything I’ve ever read (in the way it was written). It’s so beautiful and sad and perfectly encapsulates how grief affects our lives.
My only critique is how quickly the ending came and certain aspects of the man with the kids.

I wish more artists across disciplines were highlighted. Also, really hated learning more about Nazi Coco Chanel. Other than those two gripes, it was an informative read

What a depressing fucking book. I almost don’t have other words. However, the MC is funny and quippy, and i found myself empathizing with her toward the end. If you’ve ever been in a rut trying to find or make meaning in your life, this book feels familiar. But maybe don’t read this during that time. The ending left me wanting more and better for the MC, but boy isn’t that the whole point. I can’t say I’ll reread this, but that’s probably only bc I feel like I’ve already lived this.

I don’t know how I feel about this book. I really like the voice of the author and hearing about her journey through her sex life as she ages, but the overall work left something to be desired.
The essays felt disjointed and information felt too all over the place. There were so many times where it felt like I was rereading something or should be finding something out for the first time instead of the 3rd or 4th.
The summary also felt very far removed from what the book discussed, which left me a bit disappointed. I wanted there be to much more discussion on pop culture and how it shaped her - not just a few moments. The story was also SO heavily centered around her sex life that it felt like it was only about that.

When you read a lot of books on a certain topic, after a while, all the info becomes repeated. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, for books like these where you’re meant to reflect and learn from what’s shared, it takes away from the book. HOWEVER, that was absolutely not the case with this book. I learned so much specific info about Palestine and how (specifically) 2nd wave feminist idols failed in so many ways. While that isn’t a surprise, the stories the author wrote about were new info to me and I found myself learning a lot in ways I didn’t expect. An amazing read and also interesting.
