Since I don't read blurbs, I rarely know what type of book I'm getting in to. I only know "romance" because that's most of what I read. When I cracked this one open, I paused to read the shopping list (aka Content Warning), and thought, welp, this should be a ride. I was correct! 🤣 I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the story, especially because the material was emotionally "heavy". If you are looking for a story that will let you cry and then cause you to look for a partner/BOB, this will be a good fit for you. 🥹🫠

Solid world-building, a frustrating romance (because of the trope it used - I don't wanna spoil it), but it is still worth the read. Despite being a story involving many divergent ideas that labored to work together, I had a fun ride. I absolutely plan to stick with this series as I enjoyed the world-building and was intrigued by all of the secondary characters. If you like a long, solid background story that sets up the rest of a series, you might enjoy it as much as I did.

This was my first Allison Andrews book, and it surely won't be my last! I adore a "redemption of love" story, where one person is absolutely dragged through 💩 and then meets/finds again, the other person who restores their faith in love and romance. Jake and Bri were such a swoony couple and so easy to root for. 💞 I also learned a lot of new words since I'm an American, and this book was based in Australia, written by an Australian author.  Overall, it was  a lot of fun, very romantic, with some solid spice! 🥵

This was such a surprisingly emotional book for me. I wasn't sure what to expect going into it, but I was sucked into the story in short order. Knight did a stellar job of making me care about her characters, and I spent the last 10% just kind of weeping and smiling through my tears. I would classify this as a tale with a lot of heart and some solid heat! 🔥🥰
