Essie wants a safe place to raise her daughter, both in her home and in her world. You think that home would be with her Christian family (and their millions of viewers)...But this is not that story.

I loved Essie's strength and her friendship with Roarke. Essie is a character I'd love to meet. The Book of Essie is an interesting take on glass houses and social media!

For fans who loved Stalking Jack the Ripper for the mystery and thrill...and also love a little of the spectacular.

Scholastic has so many amazing graphic novels out this fall, including The Hidden Witch, the sequel to The Witch Boy! I had the chance to read them both, a treat since I interviewed Molly Ostertag at SDCC 2016 and she was so excited about her first written + drawn novel. I loved Aster’s story, first struggling against the societal norm that only women can become witches and instead must become a shapeshifter. In The Hidden Witch, Aster sets out to uncover the mystery involving a dark force. It’s such a sweet middle grade tale with wide appeal and gorgeous art. Highly recommend!

I’m missing the original cast of characters but I understand wanting to keep the material fresh (and exciting for the creative team, I’m sure). This volume was packed with action, nearly every page featured a battle scene, primarily between Mirio and the Overhaul crew. It’s high stakes with Eri on the line - her storyline ended in a cliffhanger and we are promised one more volume to wrap up this arc. I have so many questions - what will come of Mirio now that he’s quirkless? What’s up with Nighteye’s vision? How will the heroes protect Eri without using her to their advantage (until she’s old enough to decide)? Also, where the hell is Todoroki.

Emily & Austin play THE NEWLYWED GAME - Come see how many answers they agreed on!

Always Never Yours is basically the most adorable, slowest burn romance YA I’ve read in fivever and now I’m just sitting here beaming because SO FREAKING CUTE.

Written by two high school sweethearts, I expected this to be an unforgettable romance but I had no clue the depth it would take through Megan’s complex family situation. This was an unexpected surprise that enhanced Megan’s story, giving her depth. Not that she wasn’t already a fully formed character, as an unabashed flirt and sex positive female directing (and starring in) plays while playing the Rosalind to everyone else’s Juliet.

Until she gets picked to literally play Juliet.

Megan’s story was cohesive, which I applaud Emily and Austin for. Not an easy task when you’re writing one POV, accomplished by Emily at the writing helm and Austin pacing the living room to problem solve. While Megan is the star of the book, readers will absolutely fall for Owen. He’s such a cinnamon roll. Boys, let’s all aspire to be more like Owen.

I’ll definitely pick up their next book!

Wow. This was just stunning. I’m a romantic who believes that every moment matters in our greater purpose, that one day can change our lives, and that some things are bigger than we can understand. I’m also a realist in knowing that bad shit happens to good people (and all people) and not everything that happens serves to be a lesson. This story touched on all of that and so much more. I can’t wait for the movie!

The Summer of Jordi Perez is a cute mix of friendship, first love, communication, and diverse, rich characters wrapped up in a summer of fashion, blogging, and testing out burgers in LA. I love how the characters showed depth in their relationships through learning to better communicate - something we don't see often enough in YA!

What could be better than Where’s Waldo but with the fluffiest, cutest Border Collie? Nothing. So that’s why you need to pick up Find Momo. I enjoyed seeing Andrew’s stunning photography while also hunting for Momo!

What I love about the Find Momo books is the fact that it’s not just photos but there’s little description pages about Andrew and Momo’s time in different places. It’s like a journal entry on their time together!

I loved this SO MUCH. I have not read Luna (it’s on the way) but I would have never guessed this backstory was pieced together the way if’s described in the author’s note. Jennifer is all about the mission and her country first, which I appreciated her throw it all in attitude!
