I really was intrigued and loved this book through the first 80% or so. I think the relationships and banter was great, and I didn't necessarily feel like the dark elements were over the top. Of course, read the trigger warnings and if you are sensitive to any of it, please don't read, but compared to other dark romances where things were just 'TOO much', I felt like this was on the more mild side. But please please please- check content warnings.

This book did kind of fall apart at the end for me though. I think that when you build up something so big, you always risk the ending either being rushed, or just not matching the vibe of the rest of the book, and I think this happened here. The twist
with Eren being the one betraying Nell
was great, but everything after that just didn't really seem to fit together as nicely for me, and left me with a lot of questions.

So I would definitely say, if you're intrigued, check it out! It was a fun read, I devoured it in less than a day, however it won't be something that will stick with me for years to come.

The rating for book one and two will be the same, because I am rating them as a duology, not the individual books.

This series whisked me off my feet. I started this not thinking that I was going to enjoy it, but holy- the tension was absolutely perfect. After finishing book 1 I was up until 1 am on this book reading over 50% just to calm down enough to go to sleep.

The story of healing and mutual growth was so captivating, and I truly found this duology memorable and, even though I was stressed, comforting as well.

I'm a fan of finished series, so I probably won't start the next duology until book two is out, but I am excited to see what this world continues to bring!

This story had to many turns, but it all just melded into a really fun and emotional journey, that I am very glad I read

I will be honest. I want really vibing with this book for the first 60%. It was incredibly frustrating (which was the authors intent), and while I wouldn’t let a book that’s just not my vibe ruin the rating, I wasn’t expecting any thing stellar.

Suffice it to say- all that changed in the last 40% and I’m absolutely in love. I felt like all the beats tied together really well, and it comes out on top for a very important factor to me, originality.

As a huge KU reader, I find that authors just find a plot line that works for them and repeats with with new names (and I’m not talking about the hero’s journey) but this was something unexpected, and drew me into a world that I can’t wait to learn more about.

I don’t really know who’s good and who’s bad, the motivations make sense- it was great.

The only reason this isn’t a complete 5 for me is because I feel like a lot of the book was just jerking us among the same question over and over, and I think the reveal would have hit just as hard if it happened sooner. I was rolling my eyes because I had already essentially had everything from the frost 50% figured out and was ready for us to move on. So you could say pacing was an issue. But all was solved in the last half and really boosted that rating.

This book was very different than what I usually read, but I was surprised to say that I really really enjoyed it.

The characters felt very real. I feel like often times in these romances the MMC goes all secret agent vigilante, and I’m so happy to see that was not the case here. The anger and violence was very real, And so was the healing.

Overall I think this was a great read and I highly recommend!

As excited as I was for this book, I found it really hard to actually get into. Once the main plotting was wrapped up, there was still about 50% of the book to go, and I feel like for the most part, it was just drama to prolong a happy ending.

There wasn’t anything terribly outrageous, mind you, but the elements I fell in love with disappeared in this one pretty quickly, which just left me having to push through it

This book was so wonderfully confusing. I loved it!!

Normally I’m not a fan of switching between worlds, but the way that both worlds grew alongside each other made this journey so interesting.

The magic system was different in such a refreshing way, and even though I was able to piece together some things, overall there was still enough mystery that the ending shattered my world. I absolutely loved it!

The only reason this  wasn’t rated five stars is because I think some of the pacing was off, especially in SKALTERRA. Because two worlds and casts were having to be learned at the same time it definitely got a bit hard to follow at some points, and the plots for each world were pitted against each other, especially in the beginning.

That being said, the ending of this book was wonderfully done and cleared up a lot of the confusion, or at least just affirmed what was important. I’m so excited for the next book, which, since I jumped on this pretty quickly, will sadly most likely be a while.

This was such a good continuation of book one. I think, although a bit simplified, the character growth has been so fun to watch, and I think that I have a really good grasp on our two main characters and their motivations. the side characters are a bit underdeveloped, however I am really enjoying the plot, and how, as I mentioned in my review for book one, it doesn't feel cookie cutter.

I'm unfortunately at work, but if I could immediately jump into book 3 I would!

I feel as if I have been in such a reading slump and this book completely brought be out of it! I tore through it, I LOVE that the slow burn didn't conclude in this book, and I think that the magic system I different enough not to feel cookie cutter, but familiar enough that we didn't need pages of introduction.

A great read!

This book was a great contribution to the first! The ending was a bit frustrating because SPOILERS they keep splitting up at the end of each book, then they have to find each other, and I’m a bit worried that the begining Of the third book will just be a rehash of this one. But that worry could be completely wrong.

This was also really short! It was a quick read, which in some ways was nice, but I also think it could have been added to the first book and come away with the same effect.

I still wish I knew more about the rest of the world and politics instead of “king =bad guy” but at the end of the day, fun read!
