I discovered this book from The 52 Book Club’s Readalongs 2024. A great story, indeed. Before reading it, I was thinking that it might be boring and I kept putting it off. Silly of me, really. It was a very gripping story, very modernised, yet relatable. There was also a mystery thrown in, that added to the intrigue. Wonderful book. Highly recommend. Also, so far, the books suggested in The 52 Book Club have been quite good.

A wonderful book. Edith is a really loveable character; indeed, nearly all the characters are quite lovable, including the “creatures”. A short, fast-paced heartwarming tale of lovely people. The mystery and the magic adds to the charm of the book. Highly recommend. I shall, of course, be continuing this series.

These cartoons are hilarious and thought-provoking at the same time. Bill Watterson is a genius! Every time I read these books, I’m reminded to how grateful I’m that I discovered this series. Hobbes getting lost, the little raccoon dying, there are so many touching moments too. Greatest cartoon ever!

Somehow, in this book, Poirot is less than his usual sharp self. The ending of the story completely threw me off. The murderer turned out to be someone I had least expected. So, in a way, it was a great story indeed. But I do like it better when the authors give the readers a chance to figure it out a teeny tiny bit, at least. Not your typical Agatha Christie novel.

A slight departure from the usual incredibly hilarious Wodehouse plots. I personally felt that it was a cautionary tale about inherited wealth and how it takes a steady mind to keep it. Of course, the ending was satisfying; all is well that ends well.

It was a good story, well told. I did see the ending coming, so that was not at big a surprise. There are a few plot holes throughout the book, but I must admit I enjoyed the read.

A nice, lovely, cozy mystery set in a small town. Nosy, but good-hearted characters. A quick, fast-paced book.  What’s not to love. I would love to read more books in this series.

I was worried that the length of this book would be an issue. But, not at all. The story was gripping enough for the pages to fly by; I was quite engrossed in the tale. Not knowing much about the actual historical facts was not a problem either; in fact, I think that helped me enjoy the tale even more. I am generally against the forced inclusion of new-age tropes, but in this book, everything seemed to flow so well together. I now see that I’m not anti-anything as a rule: all I want is a well-told story, whatever the themes/tropes. Loved this book.

A novel filled with computer programming - That part of it took me back to my college days. A story about the people who build games - I have never read a book with this theme - that was the best, the most interesting and most novel part of this book for me. Nonetheless I was extremely bored in the beginning and frequently in between - tempted to DNF several times.  It became easier to read as it went on, though. The author seems to be trying too hard to include all the woke tropes in this one book; that wasn’t necessary at all.

I read this book on and off and I think that might have impacted my enjoyment quite a bit. It was a cozy mystery kind of book and I ought to have enjoyed it more - but I didn’t. I was bored in places, not sure why. It is still a good story; I might read other books in the series, if it works for some future readathons.
