This book certainly started out with such a warm, cozy feeling; I anticipated that it was going to be a great read. But then, as I read on, i realised that there was such a lack of direction throughout - unnecessary banter, random encounters that do nothing for the story, wanton drinking binges. I’m disappointed, but I am not averse to continuing this series for reading challenges and the like.

The stories in this book were quite unique and I had mostly not heard not ever before. My one and only complaint is with the illustrations. I do appreciate the complicated use of colour, but the characters are so ugly. The characters in the earlier ACK comics which had only flat colouring looked so much prettier. In my mind, comic gods and goddesses (Surya), kings, queens, princesses (Chandralalat, Padmini) and even commoners (Sukhu and Dukhu) , should look attractive, not grimy and ugly.

This book brings back so many memories. It is a book I’ve drawn in, and one I’ve even drawn from. I’ve memorised nearly every page of this book. Such a sweet story and such beautiful illustrations, too. A favourite forever.

This was such a quick, fun little mystery. I love the characters and the cats. A great, fast read. I love this series too and plan to complete it soon. Also, I love shorter books, instead of the 600-page behemoths.

The mystery was indeed a very good one; I can see why this has been a bestseller. But perhaps, as I get older, I’m unable to digest so much violence in my books. I sincerely wish the violence was less graphic. Nonetheless, Salander is a character with so much left unsaid, that I’m tempted to continue the series - in the hope that she has a happily-ever-after at some point.

A great finale to the series - in spite of the final tragedy. But I think I already suspected that. Enjoyed the world of the hunger games as ever. And now onto the prequels.

This was such a wonderful read. Love the mystery, and even more so, how the Queen went about resolving the case with so much humility and under-recognised brilliance. While I was fully aware that this is completely and totally fictional, it felt like I was getting a glimpse into the enigmatic life of the monarch. This book ticked all the right boxes for me - mystery, detective, and a dash of the royal magic. Definitely continuing this series.
I’ve only managed to read about 18% and I’m finding the writing so disconnected. It is so distracting and for that reason, I’m DNFing it for now. My expectations were that this would be more of an exploratory tale, but so far, it is a very uninspiring description of many characters in a rather random fashion. I’m disappointed, I really had high hopes for this book.

I loved this book. The one complaint I had was that it was too blunt. Perhaps, it was. But I was definitely pulled into this new world - an interesting new magical system, not-perfect characters who are morally upright nonetheless, how intentions clash with reality, the inherent self-centeredness of people, the resilience of people - I was zooming through the tale. In spite of the ending not being perfect, I am rooting for these characters to prevail.

It is funny how, even though Miss Marple is my favourite character, Poirot books never ever disappoint. I prefer these short books infinitely more and enjoy them a hundred times more than the large intimidating tomes that are now flooding the reading spaces. A joy to read, hard to put down, a forever favourite.
