I love witchy rom-coms. They make my heart happy. This installment in this series was no exception.
I found myself drawn in with book one and these Maxwell sisters antics. With book one ending with Rose no longer being the Prima Apparent, this one starts off with Rose trying to find her way - and in true Maxwell sister fashion, she finds herself in all kinds of trouble. Mainly - a certain sexy veterinarian she’s stuck doing community service for.
In true rom-com fashion this book is crazy predictable. You know where it’s going immediately but the road to get there is hilarious and worth the ride. I definitely enjoyed it.
I want to thank NetGalley for the ebook!

Wow. This audiobook was a straight up performance piece! It was absolutely amazingly done! With several narrators handling the multiple POV through this story, it’s such an amazing retelling of the mythological story of Phaedra - the younger sister of Ariadne.
I love mythology and retellings really are my jam. I’m so happy to have received a copy of this through NetGalley to enjoy. Between chapters the narrators joined together to read parts and it was absolutely spectacular. I love it. I love it so much.

When nightmares become reality -
That’s a basis of this story.
It takes a serial killer story and adds a shocking supernatural aspect. Told in dual timelines allowing us to know what’s currently happening as well as how we got here, we follow a writer whose horror novels have become a how to guide for a serial killer. The main problem? The books haven’t been released yet.
So here’s the question?? Who is killing these people - and why?
It’s super interesting the round about way this book handled the story. I do feel that it would have benefitted from a quicker pace but that’s my personal preference- it definitely works the way it is.
I received an audiobook through NetGalley and the quality was great. The narrator allowed for emotions and the creep factor was solid.

This is an adorable little who dunnit and I really can’t complain about it. It wasn’t even remotely on my radar and I want to give a shout out to Aardvark Book Club for letting me know this book exists!
It’s set in the ‘50’s inside the Pinnacle Hotel in New York City. We follow Evelyn, the owners daughter, as she navigates being a socialite with agoraphobia. We find out why and what she’s doing about it as we go. I’m not sure how accurate the mental healthcare given in this book was for the 1950’s, but since I don’t know I won’t comment.
There’s a stolen painting, a murdered guest, a missing child, fired employees, strained friendships - there’s quite a bit packed into just a few pages!
I really did enjoy this and I have very few complaints. Definitely recommend.

I expected more. Just wasn’t thrilled with this retelling.

Why is this book so long??
Seriously, this book just never ends. And there was no real reason for it. Maybe it wouldn’t have felt so long if the characters had been better developed- they were all just kind of there. I didn’t care what happened with anyone … in fact I found myself rooting for the virus, even though the virus was rarely mentioned.
Then I hear it’s part of a series? Why? With how many pages were in this book I don’t see why we couldn’t just get the whole story. And it’s SLOW. So slow. So so slow. I see others saying it’s fast paced but I do not know where this fast pace is. I see where it should be, but it was still so slow - even when it was action packed.
This is generally my wheelhouse and maybe that’s why I’m disappointed. This just didn’t deliver. Between the multiple POVs there was so much going on but at the same time nothing really happened. It was just weird. Not a fan.
I can imagine this might make a solid audiobook though. If there are multiple narrators adding their emotions to the characters, maybe I could get into this. But in my own head, it just wasn’t there.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ebook copy.

Well this book just smacked me with the spice immediately. I was unprepared for a vivid scene at about the 5% mark but I’m not complaining about it.
I knew this was a romance and it was going to be spicy going in. The synopsis and cover made it pretty clear. But shoo right away on an audio - I was like oh so we’re just jumping right in? Awesome. Good to know.
So yeah - it’s spicy from the start. No complaints.
I received the audio through NetGalley. It’s told through dual POV and uses two narrators to do it. Both do a fantastic job with bringing the characters to life and it made the story that much better. Both narrators handled the spicy scenes with perfection - and the changing between narrators in the middle of a scene (aka a chapter change/POV switch) didn’t change anything with the scene except the voice. I can’t say I’ve listened to a book that allowed it to happen that seamlessly.

I definitely enjoyed having the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. I expected this to be more of a romcom just based on the cover, but it’s deeper than that and I can appreciate it.
This is so close to being a catfish story - it almost reminds of an episode of that show from back in the day. While it isn’t quite that far and the “catfish” didn’t have malicious intent (like in the episode I’m thinking of), it’s pretty clear that’s what it happening.
Even so, I found this story to be everywhere and nowhere all at once but in a good way. It was like following along in Noah’s brain - and it gave an interesting insight into the character and his motives for his actions.
Definitely enjoyed. Definitely recommend. Huge thanks to NetGalley for this one!

I went into this with rather low expectations after hearing mostly negative feedback from others. I gotta say, as usual, I disagree. I enjoyed this weird little short ghost story. It wasn’t meant to be a full length novel, but probably could be fluffed up into one. I’m glad it was a short story instead though as everything that needed covered was covered and there was enough suspense to keep it interesting.
