This is a wild start to a new series! This is a side step from the usual work we see from this author and it is everything!
We’ve all read stories with time travelers but have you read one where some of the population is born with the ability to travel back in time? Cuz I hadn’t. But now I have.
Romy is a Voyager - meaning she can jump back in time. She inherited this ability from her father and it showed itself on her 16th birthday as expected. The problem? Jumping is illegal - it’s been determined to be dangerous for more than just the jumper.
Gage has known Romy since she was a kid - that’s a perk of being her older brothers best friend. The problem? Romy’s family blames him for the death of her older brother. Oh and he’s a time keeper, meaning it’s his job to stop voyagers that insist on jumping. Oh and he’s in love with Romy and has been forever.
Dra.Ma. Alllllll the drama. It’s interesting to watch it all unfold and that cliffhanger ending has me anxiously awaiting more!

I really enjoyed listening to the authors journey to sobriety. It’s definitely hard to discover that you don’t drink like everyone else or can’t handle it like “normal people”. While I haven’t personally experienced this, I know many people that have and I see their struggles - from their drinking time to their sober time.
Even though this book has the underlying theme of drinking versus sobriety for the author, it’s also relatable to anyone. And I mean that. Anyone. We’ve all had struggles with getting jobs, the pay we deserve and other workplace issues and they’re all touched on here. It takes these serious and hard to discuss topics and does it in lighthearted and funny way while still emphasizing how important whatever we are dealing with is - even if it’s just important to us.
The audiobook is read by the author (which yes please - nonfiction read by the author is the best!) Since she reads it herself, we get the feelings and emotions that she felt during these times and it’s fantastic.
Thanks to NetGalley for the access to the audiobook. It was great.
NR since it’s a memoir!

I really thought I would enjoy this more than I did. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy it. It was an emotional story about a 25 year old woman who found herself dealing with tragedy and finding her place in the world. The idea is great. It’s the execution I didn’t connect with.
I say this because it just felt too familiar. I found that I was reminded of too many other books I’ve read previously and that took away from my enjoyment of this one. I felt like I had read this before and knowing that I haven’t, that’s not a fun feeling to have with a book.
Now it definitely does bring in plenty of important topics from racism in the workplace, physical relationships, online dating, being a primary caregiver for a relative, dysfunctional families and the power of friendship. I can’t complain about that. It’s really just the vibes with this book - that feeling that I’ve read it before - I can’t get past it.
The narrator took this to another level. You can feel the emotion through the voice of the narrator and it’s amazing. It’s clear the narrator connects with the story and it’s amazing to listen to.
Thanks to NetGalley for the audio version!

Well this was an absolutely horrifying dystopian novel about a society that is rapidly losing its fertility. It’s to the point where thirteen year old females are mandated into fertility testing and if they’re fertile are shipping off to birthing schools.
This wouldn’t be so terrifying if it didn’t sound like something that could actually happen.
There were multiple POV and it started changing with chapters at the beginning but later into the book it would change mid-chapter and that was confusing for a bit. There’s also plenty of loose strings with this book - a lot is left up to reader interpretation which is not my favorite but I know many readers enjoy that.
Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 it was good, longer than necessary I think and definitely delivered.

I want to thank the author for the opportunity to read this book. I really appreciate it.
With that said, I want to get the issues out of the way first - mainly the inconsistencies included. I don’t want to spell them out because they make their way to spoiler territory so just know there are inconsistencies in this book. The other big thing is a main character is a douche. I can’t even with the nonsense that comes from his brain. I wasn’t prepared for that. But knowing it, I can classify it as that type of romance and move on - because douchey main characters should just be an actual subgenre I swear.
Naturally he redeems himself in the end and I don’t feel like that’s a spoiler because this book is labeled as being HEA. If he didn’t redeem himself, he wouldn’t have gotten one. Is he still a douche? Probably. But that’s okay - some people just are.
There are some sensitive topics in this book that I don’t have the experience to comment on but I will say that some of the scenarios definitely played out like I’ve seen personally. Is that the norm? Man I hope not - but it could be. I’m sorry if it is.
Overall this is a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️. I’m not mad at it, but it felt pretty choppy and almost incomplete I think? It’s weird because it felt like it could have been 2 different books but also needed beefed up. Idk.

I do feel I’d have enjoyed this had it read it when I was the target audience. As it stands, it’s just a meh story. Teenage drama with a vampire twist.

While I did like this book, it was super freaking wordy and there were far too many characters to really keep up with. So many different people and POVs it was hard to keep up with it all through audio, especially with the singular narrator. The story is pretty relatable and felt real when it comes to the way that small town criminal justice systems work. If you know the right people, you can get away with about anything.
The audio quality was good but it definitely NEEDED multiple narrators to make it easier to keep up with. Half the time I wasn’t even sure who’s POV I was listening to and had to find context clues or rewind to find out. It’s the main reason for my lower rating actually. Keeping up with this book was hard work and it’s already pretty long.
Thanks to NetGalley for the early access to the audio!

Wow this was so much more interesting than I thought it would be!
I’ll admit it, I’m a sucker for a good cover. This cover is everything - the skull, the dark and creepy colors/tones - I’m here for it. I read the synopsis and wasn’t sold, but as if I’d already received it through NetGalley I figured I’d try it anyway.
Worth it. So interesting. So mysterious. The narrator did an amazing job, but I do wish it had been a cast of narrators for the multiple POVs provided. While I know having a full cast isn’t the norm, it is what I prefer and adds to the story…having one is fine especially when they do such a solid job with it.
I’ve read several books with this basic premise recently and I gotta say this one stands out. My guess is the characters are adults and many like this tend to consist of teens with teenage drama. That was missing here and I loved it.
I definitely like the way this horror book was done. It’s not super duper creepy, but it’s scary in the sense of “oh man, what if that happened to me?!” And these are the horror books I appreciate the most. They’re realistic in feel - and that’s what makes it creepy!
I don’t wanna say much more because *spoilers* but I DEFINITELY recommend this.

Look - this is absolutely hilarious. And it’s supposed to be. It’s not supposed to be mythologically accurate. So yes we see mentions of things like Tinder that wouldn’t have a place in mythological worlds but still. It was funny. And that was the point.
It’s super inappropriate but anyone that’s read mythology knows it tends to lean that way anyway - and in all reality- Zeus always does come off as a dick.
I laughed very hard throughout this entire book. It delivers on the humor. I love it.
