I found this to be a legitimately thrilling thriller! There are a lot of players considering the length of the book and it was a bit to keep up with but overall it wasn’t too bad.

Thanks to NetGalley I was able to listen to the audiobook and I absolutely love the narrator! It was the perfect narration for this story and I really have no complaints there - it was a great addition to the story!

It’s an interesting idea for a story as well. A young girl manages to survive the attack of a serial killer - her testimony puts him away but the thing is, she doesn’t actually remember any of it. We find ourselves in small town world as this book progresses and it feels real (at least from my own small town experience) since small towns do tend to protect their own at all costs.

I really did enjoy this book. My only real complaint is the amount of players to keep track of and it turns out almost every single one is important. That could be an audio exclusive issue though -

Ah the “just friends” trope. I don’t always like this particular storyline but I did enjoy the way this one was handled. It was done with minimal miscommunication- it’s more like denial on both parts which is easier for me to deal with. I actually find it pretty funny.

There’s plenty of drama in this book but it’s well balanced so it doesn’t feel heavy at all. We deal with lots of feelings and I felt the characters really did have a handle on themselves. I found myself relating to the main female character and how she responds to the elaborate gifts the main male character buys without much of a thought. It’s the differences in their financial status that really resonate with me and it was definitely realistic.

I really enjoyed the dual POV and the dual narrators to go along with it. Having both a male and female voice to voice the characters POVs really added to the experience for the book.

Thanks to NetGalley for the audio copy!

This was okay. I was surely expecting more from it - it has such an interesting premise behind it. However the execution didn’t hit the mark for me.

So we find a movie, right? And apparently it’s dang good - but it’s never been released to the public - drama ensues.

This could have been great. I’m unsure if my dislike for it had more to do with the story itself, or that I listened to the audio. It’s possible that this book is just one that is better in a format other than audio. It happens. Thanks to NetGalley I was able to listen to this one - I might find an ebook and try it again in the future.

This is an interesting take on an erotic short story. I’m not sure what I was expecting but this was definitely not it.

I’m gonna keep this review pretty minuscule as there are so few pages to it that saying too much becomes a spoiler really quick. With that in mind:

I definitely got the erotic part and the horror part. It’s obvious where both of those lie. While this isn’t scary horror, it’s definitely creepy horror and there’s plenty of it. I really did enjoy this little novella and there was considerably more crammed into it than I thought would be possible.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ebook!

The amount of times I said “that’s not how this works - that’s not how any of this works” while reading this book was quite frankly ridiculous.

I received an ebook copy through NetGalley and I want to thank them for it.

This one started out pretty solid. It’s book 2 in a series but I had no trouble keeping up with it. While I was curious about Millie’s background, I can only assume it was explained in book one. It didn’t matter that much with this story and the important bits were explained.

The beginning was interesting. I found myself wondering where on earth it was even going - it was pretty normal. Then things went bonkers. Then we have a straight up refusal to communicate which just annoys me and then the big event followed by “that’s not how that works”.

I found it pretty obvious where it was going. Of course I do read a lot of thrillers and this followed a path I’m familiar with.

It’s fast paced, twisty and turny- odds are it’ll keep most people guessing and I can see the appeal. This just wasn’t for me though.

While this thriller was super predictable (to me anyway), it was pretty interesting route to get to the end.

We follow a MC that is convinced she knows what happened during a traumatic event during her teenage years that caused her to leave her hometown and end friendships. After a phone call from her sister (who has remained mute since the incident) she returns to help her mother recover from an injury. Chaos ensues.

While I know “who dunnit” almost immediately, there were enough red herrings and misdirections to make it less predictable than some. Even knowing (or being pretty sure anyway) where it was going, it was still and interesting journey. We hear about the past, learn about friendships and other relationships that had been going on throughout the course of the story and then the ending comes up and is equally dramatic.

I received an audio copy through NetGalley and the narrator was perfect for this book. It was such a great listening experience.

This is a heartfelt collection of poems about life and the challenges that we must overcome. While these appear to be specific to the author, there’s plenty that anyone can relate to within these pages.

These particular poems do tend to have a religious undertone which for me personally is not it but I know that many people find comfort in religion and I believe that these poems place their emphasis there in an amazing way. This is almost like a memoir written in poems. It’s obvious this was a healing journey for the author and I applaud them for their bravery in getting their story out there. It has some real heartbreaking moments and there are some triggers that need to not be ignored - please check those before reading.

As a memoir-ish book, I feel a star rating negates the point. It’s such a good one though. Definitely read it.

The start of this book is just a whole different level of wtf bro. You propose, she says no and leaves the country? She’s just not that in to you boo.

However - it made for a hilarious backdrop to this lovely little romantic comedy. Naturally, our MMC is still in love with the woman who didn’t accept his proposal and his friends and family decide to give him a makeover - he’s reluctant and the neighborhood loner ends up drug into their crazy scheme. It’s pretty obvious where the story goes, but the road to get there takes some turns that I was unprepared for yet really enjoyed.

The narrator really brought the story to life. I can’t say I have any complaints, but the dual POV could have benefit from dual narrators as well. This one worked, but it’s my preference for a “full cast” if you will.

Thanks to NetGalley for the audio of this!
