The amount of times I said “that’s not how this works - that’s not how any of this works” while reading this book was quite frankly ridiculous.
I received an ebook copy through NetGalley and I want to thank them for it.
This one started out pretty solid. It’s book 2 in a series but I had no trouble keeping up with it. While I was curious about Millie’s background, I can only assume it was explained in book one. It didn’t matter that much with this story and the important bits were explained.
The beginning was interesting. I found myself wondering where on earth it was even going - it was pretty normal. Then things went bonkers. Then we have a straight up refusal to communicate which just annoys me and then the big event followed by “that’s not how that works”.
I found it pretty obvious where it was going. Of course I do read a lot of thrillers and this followed a path I’m familiar with.
It’s fast paced, twisty and turny- odds are it’ll keep most people guessing and I can see the appeal. This just wasn’t for me though.
