The Month of Borrowed Dreams

Thank you Harper Perennial for the gifted copy of The Month of Borrowed Dreams!  All opinions in this review are my own.

Unfortunately, I am DNFing this book at 55%.  I put it down for a week and when I came back to it, I struggled to pick up where I had left off.  Part of the problem could be that this was the first book that I tried reading in the Finfarran Peninsula series, despite it being the fourth in the series.  I loved the small community of characters, but I felt like I was missing a lot of their shared history.

Thank you Grand Central Pub for the gifted copy of The Best Kept Secrets!  All opinions in this review are my own.

Best Kept Secrets was not for me.  I DNFed it at 213 pages.  I was wary when I first started reading because of some of the language that was used and the comments being made.  While the mystery intrigued me in the beginning, the characters were so unlikable it was hard to continue.

Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for the gifted ebook of Death and Croissants!  All opinions in this review are my own.

I made it 30% into this cozy mystery but unfortunately it wasn't for me and I'm trying to be better about DNFing books I'm not invested in.  I wasn't a huge fan of the main character and the story was difficult to follow at times.

Welcome to the School by the Sea

Thank you to BiblioLifestyle and Avon for the gifted copy of Welcome to the School by the Sea!  All opinions in this review are my own.

Unfortunately, I DNFed Welcome to the School by the Sea at 94 pages.  I love Jenny Colgan's books, but this one wasn't working for me.  Most of her books that I love are set in bookshops, bakeries, or small towns.  The school setting was not as enjoyable because I am a teacher.  I hated reading about how awful the girls were to each other, even though it was pretty realistic, and decided it was best to quit rather than put myself through the rest of it.

Thank you SMP Romance and NetGalley for the gifted ebook of The Make-Up Test! All opinions in this review are my own.

I like that the more romances I read, the more I can pinpoint what I like. For example, I'm beginning to learn that if a book is hate to love, it has to have dual POVs. It's really hard for me to listen to how horrible the love interest is for most of the book and then suddenly believe that everything can be fixed in the end.

I was really interested in Allison as a main character and loved all the literature references. However, I felt like most of that was lost because she was too busy complaining about Colin.  Apparently this was just not the book for me.
