Well that was effed up and twisty. Holy moly.
Elizabeth is a college professor who receives a submission from a student, which lays out a terrible event from when she lived in Louisiana. It talks about a friend she was not heard from in 20 years.
Going back to Louisiana winds up, of course, being an absolute hot mess. Elizabeth slowly becomes an unreliable narrator as she spirals more and more. The ending was great!
My only qualm was the addition of a couple characters that never get any "show time". It feels like with Lucas the timeline set in present day does not line up at times.
But def recommend for those who like twisty thrillers. Google trigger warnings for sure!

This one was good. I really enjoy Agent Keller as a character, so it was fun for her to reppear.
What I Liked: Agent Keller, McCray, and the pace of the plot. It moved fast and I like my thrillers to be fast.
What was just fine: The ending. Felt like many other thrillers I have read. The how much random political stuff we could throw in.
Overall, I think Finlay is a solid thriller/suspense writer. This was not my favorite of his, but he is an auto-read author for me for sure.

I really, really enjoyed this one. We start by meeting Mad, who working on her farm, is approached by her brother Rube. A brother she did not know that she had. After being convinced to go on the road trip to hunt down their other half siblings (and father), Mad is fully immersed in a family she did not know she had.
I found this story, and the relationship building between the siblings to be delightful. I loved each sibling in their own way!
The biggest reason I gave this four stars and and not five is because the ending felt very abrupt. I felt like I finally got there and it was over. Not that the book needed more in California, but an epilogue. I NEEDED an epilogue here.
Even without the epilogue, I def recommend.

Hands down my favorite Emily Henry book. It is not even close.
I loved it. I loved Alice. I loved Hayden. I loved the story.

Thank you to Celadon publishing for the newest Alex North.
I really enjoyed The Whisper Man, but have not gotten into any of his other novels. But I could not pass on an opportunity to read and review his newest. The plot sounded too good.
And I am so happy I read this one. It was hands down his best novel. Creepy AF-- let's start there. Reading this at night really gave me the creeps. Like was waiting for someone's face to pop into my window like a car window (iykyk).
There were enough twists in the book to keep you guessing, but no so many that the heart of the plot got convoluted. Our main character was really interesting, especially his methods for working with criminals. I felt for his childhood character, and enjoyed reading about the relationship he had with his father.
This was a great suspense novel. Highly recommend.
