After really loving Wendig’s last two, I found this one enjoyable as well.
It was a little slow in the middle, but the ending was really great!

I love everything Backman writes. I just cannot imagine not reading his books. They always fill me with emotion and I had to gear myself up for this one.
Overall, I enjoyed this one. But it was not my fav by him. It was def slow and sometimes a bit too slow. I needed Louisa to be a tad more fleshed out because I felt very disconnected to her compared to everyone else.
However, I will recommend this one to everyone who loved Backman. If this is your first Backman, start with a different one as this one is for those who know his style. The patience it takes sometimes with his characters.
I am so pleased to have gotten a copy of this one.

Sigh. I have high hopes for Swanson every time I read him. But honestly, the last few have just been meh.
In this story, we meet Thom and Wendy who are a married couple that have obviously done bad things together. Wendy is devoid of emotion and is beginning to loathe her husband. As the book carries on, we are brought backwards and end when Thom and Wendy first met.
Overall, I liked the idea of the book. But the pace felt slow at times, and there honestly was not a lot of depth to the plot.

This stinks because I love Amor Towles' books. A Gentlemen in Moscow is hands down one of my favorite books of all time.
I enjoyed the first half of this book just fine. But the second half with Eve was just boring to me. So I had to let this one go.

I almost picked up the new Backman this weekend, but told myself I did not want to be emotionally destroyed. SO I chose this one just to be emotionally destroyed anyways.
Our four siblings are being reunited for the first time in three years. As we read the current timeline, we are also brought through their different road trips they took with their mother which leads to the event that starts to fracture their close bond.
I absolutely loved this book and this whole family. Greta James was one of my favs when it came out, so I was worried about the expectations. Well Smith nailed it. All the feelings, beautifully written, and flawed but absolutely lovable characters.
Highly recommend.

Thank you to the publisher for a copy of the third book in the series.
Ok. Let me say that I have a love/hate with cozyish mysteries. And I feel this series is definitely cozy. But gosh I really enjoy this series. Maybe it's the setting. Maybe it's food descriptions. Maybe it's the characters. Or alllll three. :) I know that was corny.
In the third installment, we are introduced to the haute couture (sp?) of France and Christian Dior. This was an absolute fun read and I recommend for those who want a "lighter" mystery.

This was just not good to me. I felt the writing was not great, and I did not like any of the characters. They just seem like bad peopl and I do not think I can get into this book.

Let me start by saying how much more I enjoyed this than Weyward.
Our main character, Lucy, runs into some trouble at college. She leaves and goes to her sister's house where she finds it deserted. But Jess' phone, car, etc are still there. Lucy was fine as a MC, but her story left a few questions unanswered. Especially when it came to what led her to her sister's house in the first place.
Jess' diary gives us the backstory we need, a tad slowly, but we get there.
And finally, we have the story of Mary and her sister Eliza on a ship for criminals. This tale sometimes felt like it was interrupting the main story though the actual plot of this line was interesting.
overall, I enjoyed this story. I felt the multiple storylines to be a bit choppy and the ending just felt weird.
