A Season of Monstrous Conceptions

DID NOT FINISH

Thank you to Tor Publishing and NetGalley for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I just didn't bother to finish this book. The setup seems interesting enough but it deals with child bearing A LOT and that's just a turn-off for me. I don't really care to read about it at all. So I found it very hard to find time to pick this up and ended up reading other books instead.

I'd also worry about how short this is. I didn't realise it's a novella and not a full length novel when I picked it up. There's a lot of potential for the world building and the magic system. I only read half of this book and it was barely mentioned. The book would have been more captivating if that had been more central to the story.

I'm glad there's a sequel because I want more of this.

I think this belongs in my favorites but I'm not 100% sure.

It's really long and quite a heavy read. 500+ pages feels a bit excessive but I also liked this because I could really get lost into it. Definitely not something to pick out for some light, fun reading but if you want a good epic fantasy, this works wonderfully.

Some of the descriptions of genocide was actually so awful that I nearly lost my appetite.

I'm planning on reading the sequels but I need something lighter and funnier before I get into those.

I just really don't care. I wasn't in the mood for a lyrical read so this was actually pretty annoying to read. Maybe I'll read it again later but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I didn't feel that strongly about this. I just wanted something to listen to while doing chores and walking to work and I'd heard a lot of people recommend this.

I WANT MORE

Thank you to NetGalley and Titan Books for providing me with an eArc in exchange for an honest review.

Thornhedge is a fairytale. It's not really about good or bad but something in between. Somehow these short pages were nearly capable of giving me an existential crisis (I say nearly because I'm trying not to think about it).

I have been intrigued about T. Kingfisher for a good while but I don't think her books are for me. This would be great for anyone who likes books about fairies, but I'm more into faes.

Someone stop me from reading contemporary young adult books. I never like them.
