This was the best out of the three but it did not change my opinion on this series.
I think the whole series is way too overhyped and I actually prefer the tv series. And I want to throttle everyone who ever said that I shouldn't read Six of Crows duology before reading these. These are a waste of time and Six of Crows is much better and the two series have almost nothing in common. So if you're wondering, you should read Six of Crows even if you haven't read these.
I read this simply because I wanted to be done with this series and so that I can say I have read it. The ending made me cry but most of the time I wanted to throw it across the room (which would've been fine if I hadn't been sitting in a coffee shop looking like the barista had switched my coffee for decaffenated). By the ending I was way more intrigued by the Darkling's story than Alina's and I actually wished there had been a corruption arc for Alina.

This was an amazing read! I highly recommend.
The main character is highly unreliable, which is clear from the beginning. And there are so many questions to be answered.
I think this is one of those books that's best enjoyed when you know very little about it so I don't want to go into too much detail.
If you liked We Were Liars you will like this one too!

This wasn't as exciting as the first one, but I wasn't really expecting it to be anything but just good.
I'm just really in love with the premise of these book: magical diplomacy. Just that alone gets me very excited and I'm seriously considering buying these just so I could one day work in diplomacy and put these in my office.

THERE'S GONNA BE ANOTHER BOOK? THIS WASN'T THE ENDING.. oh well, it's not like I was reading this for the plot anyway.
After reading The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue I wanted to read more of V.E. Schwab's books and this one was available at the library. I liked it, but I don't think it really stuck with me. Not like Addie anyway.
DNF at 46% just because I wasn't in the mood for this anymore.
Some of these stories made me bawl my eyes out and at one point I was barely able to breathe so that made me kinda hesitant to pick this up again.
This is something that I might come back to someday if I feel like it.

I picked this up because I heard it's really good and really popular.
But this doesn't deserve the hype.
Somehow this was SO messy. I never have problems understanding what's going on, not even in high fantasy books like this one. So if I do struggle to understand, it's just bad writing. I couldn't tell who was who, or who was speaking or what was happening. I got very frustrated with this book on several occasions. It wasn't until toward the ending that I noticed there's a glossary and notes about the characters at the end of the book. And there's already a list of characters at the beginning. I think if a book needs this many notes it's probably a red flag.
Also, if a book is described as 'lesbian' (or gay or straight for that matter) I expect there to be a romance plot line. Yes, the MC is lesbian. But if you're expecting a romance, like I was, you'll be sorely disappointed.
This book was so boring. Not because there's no romance, but nothing else happened either. I was not expecting this to be slow paced so I did end up reading two smutty books and an audiobook while I was reading this. It took 350 pages for anything interesting to happen!
If you do end up reading this prepare to be confused 100% of the time, know that there is no romance and that it'll be very slow-paced.
