cunningempress 's review for:
Ruin and Rising
by Leigh Bardugo
This was the best out of the three but it did not change my opinion on this series.
I think the whole series is way too overhyped and I actually prefer the tv series. And I want to throttle everyone who ever said that I shouldn't read Six of Crows duology before reading these. These are a waste of time and Six of Crows is much better and the two series have almost nothing in common. So if you're wondering, you should read Six of Crows even if you haven't read these.
I read this simply because I wanted to be done with this series and so that I can say I have read it. The ending made me cry but most of the time I wanted to throw it across the room (which would've been fine if I hadn't been sitting in a coffee shop looking like the barista had switched my coffee for decaffenated). By the ending I was way more intrigued by the Darkling's story than Alina's and I actually wished there had been a corruption arc for Alina.
