Ali Hazelwood switches things up with Deep End” no dual POVs this time, but what we do get? Consent, communication, and enough sexual angst to fuel a whole new branch of psychology.
Scarlett and Lukas are refreshingly in sync about their needs (love that for them), but wow, the other relationships in this book? A mess. Pen, girl, you broke up with Lukas—stop treating him like a backup boyfriend. And Lukas? Set some damn boundaries. And Scarlett, please, for the love of all things holy, just say the words. Communication, people!
Not sure how I feel about Lukas catching feelings for Scarlett while still with Pen—it gives mildly unfaithful vibes. Also, the self-doubt? Not my favorite. But you know who is my favorite? JAN! Absolute legend.
Overall, Deep End delivers Hazelwood’s signature brainy, tension-filled romance, but with a fresh dynamic that keeps things interesting. Just be prepared to scream, USE YOUR WORDS! at least a dozen times.
Like being trapped in the chaotic group chat of someone going through it—hilarious, oversharing, and a little exhausting. The narrator throws so much information at you right away, like an infodump you didn’t ask for but now have to sit with. It reads like a podcast: witty, self-deprecating, and painfully realistic in a—wow, life is bleak kind of way. If you love mess and existential dread with a side of humor, this might be for you. Me? I’ll pass.

Not In Love by Ali Hazelwood is a deliciously refreshing romp through the world of science, romance, and—yes, you read that right—non-penetration sex! Right from the get-go, Hazelwood serves up a love story where Eli is such a simp for Rue that his infatuation practically deserves its own fan club. Their connection goes far beyond the physical, with communication that feels as genuine as it is steamy.
The science element in the story is surprisingly accessible, too. The plot’s patent issue over advanced tech is explained with just enough detail to keep things intriguing without overwhelming the reader. It’s the perfect blend of smart storytelling and quirky tech talk that makes the narrative as engaging as it is fun.
Now, not every character hits the mark perfectly. Rue can come off a bit robotic at times—which, in a world where human connections are central, is exactly the point of her character’s design. And then there’s Florence: honestly, she’s the book’s designated selfish asshoe.

A steamy and engaging enemies-to-lovers romance that delivers plenty of banter and chemistry between Jules and Josh. Their relationship evolves naturally, shifting from rivals to friends-with-benefits to something deeper, with both characters showing real growth. I especially appreciated that they had strong career ambitions, adding depth beyond just the romance. However, Josh’s reaction to Jules’ confession felt overly harsh and unnecessary, dampening an otherwise well-developed love story. Despite that, the book is an addictive read with humor, passion, and emotional depth.

Picks up right after Iron Flame, throwing readers into a whirlwind of confusion that doesn’t fully settle until around chapter seven. Once the pieces start falling into place, the story gains momentum, delivering intense action, emotional gut punches, and some truly unforgettable moments” like Professor Xaden, Xaden’s uneasy truce with Dain, Garrick being a big-back, and Andarna’s heartbreaking departure. The character dynamics continue to shine, deepening relationships while raising the stakes. While I’m still processing that ending, one thing’s for sure: this installment keeps the tension high and the surprises coming.

A well-paced plot and more consistent characters than its predecessor. The ballerina x hockey player dynamic was enjoyable, and the story itself was easy to get through. However, the writing felt a bit uninspired and repetitive at times, and it could have lost a few pages without much impact. While I liked the book and it didn’t quite pull on my heartstrings as much as I would’ve hoped. Overall, it’s a good, light read.”

A fun romance read, but it had some frustrating elements that kept it from fully shining. Summer’s hot-and-cold attitude toward the relationship felt repetitive, and her emotional immaturity made it hard to connect with her at times. That said, the banter between her and the love interest was enjoyable, adding some charm to the story. While the plot was predictable and followed a familiar formula, it still had its entertaining moments. Still, it’s a great pick if you’re looking for a light, engaging romance!

Spy x Family, Volume 13 delivers its usual charm, with the Anya and Damian storyline standing out as especially adorable and entertaining. However, the volume feels like yet another filler installment, leaving fans eager for Tatsuya Endo to move the overarching plot forward in a more meaningful way. While still enjoyable, it lacks the momentum the series needs at this stage.

Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree is a heartwarming, low-stakes fantasy that feels like a warm cup of coffee on a cozy day. The story follows Viv, an orc who trades adventuring for her dream of opening a coffee shop, bringing a refreshing twist to traditional fantasy tropes. The characters are charming and endearing, each adding depth and warmth to the narrative. Baldree’s rich descriptions and delightful worldbuilding create a comforting, slice-of-life tale that celebrates friendship, new beginnings, and the magic in the mundane. It’s a perfect read for anyone seeking a feel-good escape.
