haelyn and tristan were cute. i wasn’t a huge fan of how they met tbh, which is one of the book’s main tropes lol. i liked how they came from very different backgrounds but complimented and understood each other and their struggles. they never downplayed each other.

unlike the first book, this storyline was less chaotically plot-focused and was more of a generic contemporary romance. i was bored at times because of the lack of actual plot but i did like the friends and found family in this. the ending felt rushed imo but the epilogue was cute.

special thanks to Maeve Hazel (author) for the beta copy & ARC.

please note: initially i refused to write any type of review—positive or negative—because of the author’s conditions for receiving advance copies she stated in an email prior to its release,

- Reviews under 3.5 stars must be posted 3 weeks AFTER the release
- Reviews above 3.5 stars must be posted by AUGUST 10 and sent to [PR email] OR [author email]. (IF SOMETHING OCCURS AND YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO REVIEW, EMAIL US, BUT ANY OF THE READERS WHO WON'T REVIEW, WILL BE DELETED FROM OUR LIST, AND THEREFORE, NOT RECEIVE ANY UPCOMING ARCS FROM MAEVE HAZEL)

thankfully, the author retracted that statement and apologized. that is when i decided to post my review and i will not rate it higher.

for a debut novel written by a teenager at the time, i’m impressed!!!! one of my favorite things in this was the fmc’s banter with anyone.

charlie and nova were so adorable and a perfect story to end the series. i was constantly giggling and swooning throughout the book. it was so full of feels, hilarious, and heartwarming moments of the found family of lovelight farms that i’m going to miss so much.

“All grown-ups were once children... but only few of them remember it.”

wtf reading this for the first time as a full-grown adult made me question why i didn’t read books like this in elementary school. this was such a special little book.

i loved, loved, LOVED nicole stephanie adler. she was such a beautiful, strong, badass fmc. she truly had one of the best redemption arcs ever written by rk. seeing her have everything she ever wanted in her life made my whole heart melt <3

as for daniel… i’m still undecided. don’t know if i want to throttle him or hug him. the only reason i tolerated him in the end was because of his big love confession. that was truly one of rk’s best work.

that being said, for a good 90% of the story, he didn’t deserve her, which pissed me off tremendously. hence the average rating.

usually i hate when it’s a second chance romance and the mmcs sleep with anyone in their vicinity after the mcs split up while the fmc doesn’t but the fmc in this story was valid for abstaining for over a decade. so for the people mad nicole didn’t sleep around in the ~11 years they were apart while daniel was a fuckboy and whoring around, did you not read or empathize that nicole was SA’d by another character? she became deeply traumatized when it came to s3x. rekindling with daniel helped her heal from those triggers and he helped her enjoy s3x again. i think some of y’all don’t truly understand or care about the characters’–explicit and implicit–feelings when reading.

anywho i had to get that off my chest because i saw so many complaints about that in other reviews. anyways rant over, bye.
