Short stories or a book? That’s not the right question. This is both.

The whole book revolves around the same group of characters and it ranges over several decades. We get lots of short glimpses into the lives of the 4 characters.

As to be expected with Native books, there really isn’t a plot. This is typical of Native storytelling

I don’t ever reread books, but I think this one has convinced me. The audiobook is beautifully done. The emotion and love that went into this can really be felt.

I’m definitely going to get the physical book and read it again sometime. I typically wouldn’t listen to a book written in prose, but this was perfect. I’m excited to see how the  story flows now that I know the details I couldn’t piece together for the first half of the book.

This book is conceptually quite interesting. We learn about a family in 2 different possible realities. One with a daughter and one with a son. Each was treated differently based on their sex.

The majority of the book shows their adult life in 2010 and in 1997.

This was a beautiful story where both main characters grow together and fall in love. I loved how strong  My is.

I did cry at one point.
Chapter 18 was an incredibly hard read. The rejection she felt was so real.

In the following few chapters, I loved Khai even more than I did before. He’s so caring and compassionate. Ridiculous when he claims to be anything but.

What an interesting concept. I think this multiple husband home has potential. It takes a village, right?

This story was so well written that it felt real and believable. I felt bad for all the characters at different points in the story. Though, I was also mad at each of them. I loved this

I loved this book. I love how the audiobook book had 3 different narrators. It was super helpful since the book had tons of perspectives.

I love how this story wen off and gave perspectives of people who the main characters interacted with.

I live how this story showed how wavy one impacts each other even if the interaction is small.

I love the theory throughout the story. I probably won’t stop thinking about this story for a while. The impact we have on each other, multiverses, dark matter and so much else.

I love how beyond reason Natasha and Daniel seem to be forced together in a series of perfect coincidences.

Can you tell, I loved this story?

A beautiful story with lots of representation. Can’t wait to read the next 2 books.

I’m super unhappy with a couple this said on the first 3 pages, but I guess that was just setting the scene.

The concept of this book is  intriguing. Seven characters with each one correlating to one of the 7 deadly sins. (Note: this isn’t about religion)

Overall, not my favorite book, but I knew that going into it. I know I’m not a fan of  school aged characters who are mainly at school.

It was nice to see some representation. Until this book, I’ve never seen any pansexual characters in any form of media. I hate that they were outed.

I’m also on the fence with how I feel about this specific teacher/student relationship. Given the details laid out in the book, I’m having a hard time feeling like it’s wrong.

Canon Representation:
  • Pansexual
  • Hispanic

This book was really good and very thought provoking. I loved how the story went back and forth between past and present while also showing different perspectives. I loved this story

The chapters were long, maybe too long. Had I been reading a print book vs the audiobook, this probably would’ve been hard.

Somewhere, someone mentioned this book had polyamory representation. This is not the case at all.
