Eh... I'm in the minority here, but I thought it was pretty boring and there was no chemistry. We all love a broody guy but Jasper was just kind of mean and Wendy would fall over when he was just "nice" to her. They really didn't even seem like they liked each other. This was my first Julie Olivia book and likely my last.
This was a super and hot and spicy Christmas novella and I really enjoyed it. I'm a fan of MMF/poly relationships, so this was perfect. Honestly, if you want a fun, festive and freaky short Christmas story, this is the book for you. I took a star off because of the mistaken identity trope and the REALLY big lie that's sort of the catalyst for the whole story (I didn't like that at all), but it ends well and all is forgiven, so if you can overlook that, then you're good.
In my humble opinion, Lauren Asher can do no wrong. I absolutely love her books and this was no exception. Final Offer and Redeemed are two of my favorite books, and I was excited to dive into this one because I knew I would love it. First of all, the cover is just so pretty! The purple and the gazebo and the paint samples... it all just works. I'm excited for another series and to read about hot billionaires and the women they love. It's such a guilty pleasure, and Lauren Asher does it so well. I fell immediately for Dahlia and Julian and was kicking my feet and giggling throughout the entire book. I love the growth they both showed, and Dahlia is such a force. I wanted to knock her ex's teeth out but Julian was her knight in shining armor and she deserves it. I would consider this not only a childhood rivals to lovers trope, but also a second chance romance in a lot of ways because Dahlia and Julian lost out on their shot once, and they basically become enemies but really, they've just been in love with each other this whole time. There were some really fun and laugh out loud moments, like them crashing their cars into each other upon meeting again, pranks pulled, breaking each other's phones, even getting ARRESTED together. The smut was SUPER HOT too, like I was just sweating and crossing my own legs. Their sexual tension after literal decades and chemistry was tangible and jumped off the page. I REALLY loved the footnotes at the end of each chapter that explain the Spanish translations, because even though I know Spanish, I really appreciate when this added to a book because I know others might not be familiar. I think it's crucial when you are writing characters of differenct races who speak other languages, and I think Lauren Asher did a great job. It was such a treat for me to see characters from the other books, like Cal, Alana, Cami, mentions of Declan and Iris and even Elias Cruz. I loved this book and I cannot wait for the rest of the series!
This book is THAT GIRL. I'm not going to say much in this review, as a review for this kind of book with this amount of hype and craze would likely spoil it for others and I don't want to do that, but what I will say is... I wasn't sure a sequel was going to be as good as the first, but it really is. There's so much to love about this book and it's really every fantasy lover's dream. It has EVERYTHING. And after that cliffhanger, I just knew I needed this book. She's quite long, coming in just under 900 pages, but it's well worth it. Plus the cliffhanger in *this* book?! Rebecca, I need book three STAT.
Who doesn't love a small town, cowboy on his ranch romance? I certainly do. This is another winner for me. I love the small town, grumpy and overprotective cowboy who has a ranch and falls for the good girl. What I really liked about this was the chronic illness representation from our FMC. I didn't care for the fact that the MMC was basically a widow, as I'm not really a fan of this trope, but I still think this book was really good and worth a read if you're a fan of Elsie Silver, Lyla Sage and others who specialize in cowboy romances. I think maybe there were a few things missing, like more angst and a bit more chemistry between Charlie and Ruby, but it was a nice and fun read with a lot to like. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series and seeing how it goes for the stories with the other brothers.
Wow, I really loved this book! Probably even moreso than the first book in the series. This book is about Carter, who is an interior designer, and Tomasso, who hires Carter to be design and decorate his house. There is an instant attraction on both sides, but since it is a boss/employee relationship, neither feel like they can act on it. They don't seem like they would have much in common, but they are more alike than they think. I thought it was so cute how Tomasso took care of Carter when he was down and out. He was down BAD for this guy and it was so obvious from the start. This was just a really cute and fun book, and I am looking forward to more in this series.
I really enjoy Sarina Bowen's MM romances, and this is no exception. I thought this book was really good, and if you enjoy hockey and MM romance, then this is for you. Hudson is the new guy on his NHL hockey team and he meets and falls for a trainer that works for the team. Gavin, the trainer for the Brooklyn Bruisers, is a widow and single father. After an unexpected meeting at a local bar and then finding out they are neighbors, Hudson and Gavin have to navigate a seemingly forbidden love and an attraction they can't deny but really can't act on. There's low angst, fun times with Jordyn, awesome banter and some sexy scenes. I love this single parent trope and the hockey element. This is definitely a great start to a new series from the hockey MM queen.
This was much better than the first book in the series! I didn't particularly care for the Meet Your Watch, which is book one of the Kings of the Ice series, but I wanted to read about the other characters we were introduced to. I loved the idea of Jaxson and Grace, ever since we saw them in the first book. I love a good road trip romance and add in a sports romance plus the teammate's little sister and I knew it would be good. It really did not disappoint. Kandi Steiner does such a good job of building tension between these two and the angst was just enough without the book being too angsty. There was great banter and the steamy scenes were awesome. Jaxson Brittain is Grace’s brother’s teammate and friend. She knows he’s off limits for her, but she still wants him. Grace is not only Jaxson’s teammate’s little sister, but she’s eight years younger than him and forbidden in so many ways. They have great chemistry and feel a pull toward each other, but can't act on it. Grace and Jaxson go on a secret road trip and it’s so much fun. I loved reading this part, in fact it was my favorite part of the book. I loved watching them become friends and slowly fall for one another. When feelings come into play, neither one can stay away. This was a fun and steamy book and I really liked Jaxson and Grace together. I cannot WAIT for Daddy P's (Will's) book!
This book was so good! I've read several Morgan Elizabeth books now, and she just doesn't miss. I'm so glad Shae got her own book! I love that she was able to find herself and her daughters happiness, and that she was able to find HERSELF after a horrible relationship with her ex-husband. Also, Christmas cowboy? Sign me up. Nick was so hot, and the fact that he would do anything for not only Shae but her daughters too had me swooning. I loved the growth we saw from everyone, including the children. I loved that the horses were so therapeutic and that Nick was able to show Shae what a real man and father is. I also really liked the storyline with Connor and how everything fell into place, and I actually would really enjoy it if he got his own book. He just seemed like such a good guy who also stepped up and I'd be interested in his story. Maybe Connor and Kat for a spring story perhaps?
I'm sorry, but I cannot rate this any higher than two stars and even that is generous. I loved Ana Huang's Twisted series but her writing for the Kings of Sins series has been... lacking, let's just say. I expected a lot from this book when she revealed it would be a marriage in crisis trope and from the glimpses of Dominic and Alessandra in the previous books. This did not deliver whatsoever. Where was the angst? Where was the groveling? Where was the actual marriage in crisis, not just a divorce and winning her back? I really think this should have been classified as a second chance romance, NOT a marriage in crisis. They literally get divorced fairly quickly in the book, so a marriage in crisis is not truly accurate, not when the marriage is done and the papers signed. Also, getting divorced, claiming to date other people, then having sex with your ex husband two days later, then slapping him when he brings it up a day later is weird behavior. So Dominic buys Alessandra some flowers and is there for her for one bad night and suddenly all is forgiven and they're back together like nothing happened. No ma'am, I could not. There was literally no groveling on Dominic's part, just some apologies and some flowers and a small amount of effort, but it really was not all that. Alex Volkov was better at groveling! We all make fun of the guy, but man, did he GROVEL. I was looking for so much more angst here too. When a marriage is ending, you would think it would be much more heartbreaking on both ends but it just... wasn't. This was bad. Like, at times I really thought I was reading a book written with ChatGPT. There was no heart, no emotion in it, and it just was flat and not impressive in the least. There's so much more I could say, but I won't go on and on because you get the idea. I really wish these two would have just gotten divorced and then Alessandra went on to find herself and then fell in love with someone new. Now THAT would have been a good book. Not whatever this was. Anyways, I am looking forward to Sloane and Xavier's book, King of Sloth, and I'm hoping it's better than whatever this was.
