I'm so confused how anyone could think this is funny.

This was not only boring, but also pointless and disturbing.

Literally took me 3 years to finish because it was so bad and I kept having to put it down, so happy I bought it from a used book store and only paid a $1.
slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No

I wish I could give this zero starts.

This is the most, Anti-Black, Fatphobic, Classist, Colorist, unedited book I have ever read.

I will never read another book from this author.

She clearly has some serious issues she needs to work through.

The beginning was very promising, however the story quickly fell apart for me and the "twist" at the end completely unraveled it. However I would give other books written by this author a read.

Rating 4 stars because I thought this short story was interesting and it kept me engaged enough to keep turning the page. I don't like the main character but I'm pretty sure we aren't supposed to, we get to see into the mind and the break down of a character that gets his just desserts.
The more we learned about him, the more I enjoyed watching him slowly slip into insanity.

I can not say enough good things about this book.

The world building is absolutely amazing, this sucked me right into the "Pet" universe and didn't let go until the last page.

Every character is well rounded and fleshed out no matter how small or big they are in the book, the story line is original and enticing, and kept me flipping the pages to find out what was going to happen next.

as a side note this book has the greatest charter names that I have read in a book in my life, I was so excited for each character to be introduced, I wanted more juts so that I could see what their names would be.

I can't enough good things about this book, this is definitely going to be one my all time faves, Akwaeke Emezi is an amazing writer, and I can't wait to read more.

This book started off very promising, however it quickly loses it's momentum for me. It starts to become redundant, confusing, and unentertaining. While the actual writing is not bad, the story line does nothing for me and the fight scenes do even less. In the end, kind of had to force myself to finish this book only for the purpose of finishing it and not because I actually cared about what happened in the book.
