This was a very fast read and easy to get through. I think the story was well told, but I didn't really connect with the characters and the way they were writing. Nontheless, I liked it and especially how it ended.
Also,Ken is such an asshole, what the fuck.

I'm very glad Elliot wrote this book - he says in the beginning that he has "nothing new to say", but it doesn't have to be new to be impactful. I hope this book reaches a lot of people who need it.
I liked the writing style (read in German though), it was easy to read and felt very close to a thought process. However, sometimes it felt like too much of a thought process to me. It was hard to follow at times because the book didn't have much of a timeline. Sometimes a chapter starts with something in current day, then goes back to something that happened a few years ago, only to go back into Elliots teenage years and back again. It was a little hard for me sometimes to keep up with all the names and places and figuring out which year we were in, as well as piecing together what happened at the same time.
Other than that, I was emotionally involved and it was very interesting to have an insight into Elliots life and his long way to self acceptance.
Must say though that you should take the content warnings into consideration and also beware that most of this book describes a person basically constantly suffering on some level. Idk, I think you have to be in the right mindset to read this, even if it ends on a hopeful note.

Highly entertaining! I'm not that deep into Riordans works, but I had enough knowledge about previous books to understand this one in the context of the ongoing events. I liked Apollo as the protagonist, because he is hilariously insufferable a lot of the time. On that note: It makes sense that he is obsessed with his looks, but I didn't really enjoy the unnecessary body shaming commentary that came with it. Besides that it was very fun to be in the thoughts of a god struggling to come to terms with human realities.

This book had me hooked, I read it within a few days, which is unusual for me when reading a book like this. It was just so engaging! I do think that one has to like this rather uncommon way of storytelling - if you want action scenes and stuff like that, you should skip this one. But otherwise, if the setting of a fictional true crime documentary/reality tv show interests you, you will probably like this one.
The characters aren't that deep, but that is okay since this is a very plot driven story and they still have distinct personalities that shine through and get their moments.
Due to this being written as a script, I could picture all of it very easily and I think the author did a great job at making this feel like an actual true crime show.. mixed with reality tv aspects, which was interesting, because it raised an unexpected aspect around the ethics of this way of making tv.
I did like the story and was on the edge of my seat with every new discovery - but I must say that I guessed the direction this would take realatively early on. (Following spoiler includes the cases solution.) I was confused that nobody questioned the alibi of the children and that everyone was so focused on finding someone external who came to the house instead of questioning whether the people who lived there might have had something to do with it, especially because they didn't like Luke that much. It seemed likely to me that the siblings were covering for one another in some way. When it was mentioned that Guy destroyed the wedding cake, I was relatively sure that it was him. Since he was the one who initiated the filming of this series, I also thought he probably couldn't remember (or wanted to use this series to get it off his chest, but I thought that was unlikely, because it would probably not help his career to announce something like this in such a way and would also be way too personal). Still, everything else coming out and the way the case came together was really interesting and well done in my opinion.

A story told through beautiful words. I think the writing style works for people who like poetic writing, but it also works for people like me who are easily annoyed when a book loses itself in pretty words. (There were only a few times I thought "why did you have to phrase it that way?")
I thought this book would destroy me emotionally and maybe it would have if I read it at a different time in my life or read it instead of listening to the audio book. While it did not devastate me in the way I thought it would, it still made me feel a lot for these characters and Ludwig especially. I'm very impressed with him and his bravery. I liked Carolina a lot as well, she's so cool.

Listened to this classic of a fiction podcast to finally know why people love it so much - and also because I'm always here for badass queer women.
The story is creepy, brutal at times, well performed by the voice actresses and has a lot of creative ideas. Keisha is a very brave protagonist, facing the dangers she encounters head on, I also liked that we got some anxiety-rep with her. She's really cool, as well as Sylvia. I liked discovering the bigger and smaller mysteries with them.
I also liked the explanation of how thistle-men are created, that they used to be human. As well as the oracles; the oracles in general were fascinating and I love that Sylvia became an oracle after being saved by one when her mother was murdered.

I am a little proud of myself that I finished this book, since I'm not the one for classics, and I think reading it via "Dracula Daily" helped me finish it - the added fun element of recieving the parts of the story on the day they were happening and the way this method broke the book down into manageable pieces instead of one big chunk of a book was good for for me.
I understand why Dracula is a classic. It has a great atmosphere and memorable characters, as well as a compelling story. The amount of miscommunication and keeping people in the dark and waiting until the very last second to do anything about the ominous things that were happening was a lot though.
To people who are like me and tend to struggle with classics: Even though English isn't my first language, the language in this book was very manageable for me. Though I must say that old language adds a level of difficulty for me when it comes to being immersed in a story. This happened here as well, I never really developed strong feelings towards the story and its characters ... Until the end. When I read the epilogue today, it really got to me for some reason.
