This was fun. I never thought I would pick up The Atlas Six. However, when it became the Deity Book club pick from Ro's (wandering through worlds) Patreon and since the audiobook was available on Storytel, I read it (or listened to it).

I really enjoyed the vibes. It was fun. I could tell that it was selfpublished at first but I am very curious about the sequel and to see Olivie Blake grow as an author.

I adore Heartstopper by Alice Oseman like everyone else. I was excited to start Solitaire which is about Tori, Charlie's older sister. I really enjoyed the beginning, getting to know Tori and her friendship with Michael Holden. It was really nice to see Nick and Charlie as a supporting cast.

However, I did not like the ending.

The 'Solitaire' plotline feels like it could be cut just like that. And I'd really preferred it if Tori and Michael stayed friends. I really thought this book wasn't a romance. "This is not a love story" is on the front cover. I really liked the friendship and for me, the kiss came from left field. So the ending did not do it for me.

In the end, it was a nice read. I enjoyed my buddy read.

I would recommend Solitaire to those who love Heartstopper and want to know more about Tori and are looking for a different, a more melancholic, atmosphere than the graphic novel.

I enjoyed Bitch: On the Female of the Species so much. I learnt a lot about biology. Lucy Cooke discusses how the Victorian view on zoology is outdated. The chapters discuss mate choice, monogamy myth, eating your lover, good and bad mothers, aggressive female animals, matriarchs and menopause, homosexual animal couples and animals that exist beyond the gender binary. Cooke does this with humour and great expertise. She discusses a great variety of species, many of which she has met before or while doing research for this book.

I loved learning all these things and I would love to reread and annotate a physical book. I would recommend Bitch if you are into feminism and love to learn about animals. 

 Aru Shah and the Nectar of Immortality. I'm just sad the series has come to an end. I love the Potatoes and their adventures. I love the sisterhood Aru, Mini, Brynne, Nikita and Sheela form. I loved learning about Hindu mythology.

I think this was a great finale. The final battle and even before needed some sacrifices. I had a bit of a little dip in the middle of reading but the ending really picked up for me.

It was great to read about all these young inventors, artists, scientists and many other women. The stories include Black, Indigenous and other women of colour as well as women with disabilities.

If you are looking for good night stories that will inspire your child and show them that they can achieve their dreams even when they are young, Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Inspiring Young Changemakers is the book for you. 

 Ik vond Grote Panda & Kleine Draak minder samenhangend dan De jongen, de mol, de vos en het paard. Waar ik bij De jongen nog wel een verhaal zag, is dit boek quotes met mooie illustraties. Zelf had ik gehoopt op een beetje verhaal dus dat vond ik jammer. De quotes die er in staan zijn inspirerend. Het boek is dus fijn om af en toe in door te bladeren. 

 I quite enjoyed Uprooted! However, halfway through I did lose some intrigue, unfortunately. I think it's mostly due to me listening to the audiobook. Sometimes you just get distracted and then you miss something. The more I miss, the more my interest gets dented. It's me, not you, Uprooted.

Rebel Girls Mean Business focuses on stories of female entrepreneurs and investors. I always love learning about more amazing women with the Rebel Girls books. Again, I learnt about more inspiring women and that's all I want from the books of Rebel Girls. 

De afstand tussen jou en mij is een heerlijk boek over jezelf uitdagen, de natuur en de liefde. Leef met McKenna mee als ze in haar eentje de  Appalachian Trail aflegt. Ze zou eigenlijk samen met haar beste vriendin gaan, maar die zij op het laatste moment af omdat ze meer tijd wilde besteden met haar nieuwe vriend (geen goede reden als je het mij vraagt). McKenna moet en zal de AT aflopen. Ze beleeft mooie dingen, maar komt ook tegenslagen tegen tijdens haar tocht.

Aanrader voor lezers die ook genoten van Dwarsloper en Het is hier helemaal (niet) perfect!
