Buddy read with A Robin Reads.

I adore Heartstopper by Alice Oseman like everyone else. I was excited to start Solitaire which is about Tori, Charlie's older sister. I really enjoyed the beginning, getting to know Tori and her friendship with Michael Holden. It was really nice to see Nick and Charlie as a supporting cast.

However, I did not like the ending.

The 'Solitaire' plotline feels like it could be cut just like that. And I'd really preferred it if Tori and Michael stayed friends. I really thought this book wasn't a romance. "This is not a love story" is on the front cover. I really liked the friendship and for me, the kiss came from left field. So the ending did not do it for me.

In the end, it was a nice read. I enjoyed my buddy read.

I would recommend Solitaire to those who love Heartstopper and want to know more about Tori and are looking for a different, a more melancholic, atmosphere than the graphic novel.
