I like the comics because I get to see a bit more of the Avatar world with the characters I adore. Usually, I feel like the Avatar comics have a good commentary on the real world. And I like reading about these interpretations and how it will hopefully inspire younger generations about peace and justice.
However, the ending of Ruins of the Empire was not as satisfying for me.
That being said it is an okay comic. I will probably always enjoy them due to nostalgia and I don't mind that at all.

I would have liked more background on Kuvira growing up with the Beifongs. I felt like the ending glossed over that. I also feel like the treatment Kuvira got was a too nice, too happy ending. She still got a punishment but it is basically house arrest while she was the leader of a movement that caused a lot of misery. That being said it is an okay comic. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I liked it, definitely. But I adored the first one so much that compared to Children of Blood and Bone, I'm not sure how to feel about Children of Virtue and Vengeance. However, the ending of CVV makes me super excited for the third book! So I would say it might just be "second book syndrome" that strikes again in this trilogy.
The stakes in CVV were definitely higher than in CBB.

Now that magic is back, the maji clans are so powerful and I loved seeing them try and really learn how to use their magic. I also think due to high stakes, the sacrifices that were made hit a lot harder. I also loved Zélie's ascension to the Elder position and her really growing into the role but also having to learn to accept the responsibility that lays with it.
I really enjoyed Aru's journey. I adore Mini and I am curious what adventures are waiting. I enjoy learning about the Hindu mythology as well since I knew next to nothing about the stories before starting this book.
3.5 stars. I recommend it to anyone interested in Hindu mythology and looking for some Percy Jackson vibes since it is funny as well.

I really liked this book. I was already familiar with Becky Albertalli's cute books but not at all with Aisha Saeed. Needless to say, they made a perfect duo for this book. It is also an important book. It is very political and has many good lessons for young adults as they start to reach the voting age.
I really enjoy the Aru Shah books.
I feel like Aru and her friends grew so much in this second instalment that I cannot believe she is only 12. I love how her relationship with Brynne grew throughout the book and how they ended up being friends. I love how these books teach me about Hindu mythology. And how it uses nerdy references to complete my enjoyment.
After just saving the world from the End of Time, Aru and Mini are accused of stealing the bow and arrow of the god of love, Kamadeva. Together with their new Pandava sister Brynne and Aru's neighbour Aiden, they have 10 mortal days to clear their names or they will be exiled from the Otherworld forever.

Reread May 2020
I really liked the experience of rereading Simon vs.. Rereading it you get the little hits about Blue's identity and that made it a fun, different experience from reading it the first time when I was trying to figure about out who Blue was.

Finding Om is a beautifully illustrated picture book about meditation. A lesson both parents and children can learn from as meditation and mindfulness is so hopeful, especially in these times where we are self-isolating. I really enjoyed it and hope that everyone who picks it up will find their OM
4 stars
I am loving Aru's journey together with her sisters and Aiden. So I am glad that it was announced that the Pandava series will no longer be a quartet but a 5 part series!
Since this is the third book in the series, beware of spoilers!
Aru Shah and the Tree of Wishes starts with Aru, Mini, Brynne and Aiden saving the newest Pandavas sisters. And I loved the twins, Nikita and Sheela. Their personalities are very distinct and I hope that we will get to see more of them in the last two books in the series since here they were still more in the background. I even started to like Naga Prince Rudy after be annoyed by him for part of the book. But in the end, he grew.
The book comes back the Aru's insecurities surrounding the Sleeper especially because of a specific sentence in the prophecy. The insecurity felt very natural to her character and I enjoyed reading about it especially with the way this book ended.
Let's talk about the ending of this book! Risks were taken. And now I need the next book to see how it will turn out!

In All American Boys we follow two point of views. The first is of Rashad, who gets abused by the police while trying to purchase a bag of chips. The second is of Quinn, who witnesses the police brutality.
Rashad's point of view mostly shows the reality of police brutality many Black Americans, if not Black people around the world, face. Quinn's chapters show the white person's point of view: the white privilege, how easy it is to ignore it all and move on with your day, while that's not the case for BIPOC.
The dual narration is what makes this book so strong and powerful, especially for a casual reader. So if you have read All American Boys, I would say recommend it to others as well. Let your friends and family and peers empathise with Rashad and learn with Quinn.
