I enjoyed reading this book. One of my favourite time periods to read is women in the 1950s to 1970s. I am amazed at the strength of women to live then and push to make changes for those of us that followed. 

Even though there’s not a lot of emotional depth to this story, it was a great read that was fairly quick that had me engaged from the beginning.

Narration was well done and helped add to the whole book overall!

I was very much looking forward to reading this book. It is a different kind of book than the usual EH books. It is a slow burn for the plot and for the romance. Things really picked up in the last quarter of the book especially the last chapters. There was one point when I had to stop listening because I had to take a breath. So good!

Narration as per the norm was fantastic! Julia Whelan is the epitome of great narration. Reading the words with the correct emotion to keep you fully involved with the story. Every word pronounced correctly, every pause down without a sound, every voice consistent. JW makes a great book even greater.

I’m enjoyed the book and the four women in the stories. As a woman over 50, I love finding books about women of the same age. There just is not enough of them. 

Unfortunately since I’m reading the series one after the other, I’m easily remembering the books before and coming across inconsistent information. As well, there are continuity mistakes within this story that should’ve been fixed before editing. Repetition of info throughout has me jumping paragraphs.  

A cute cosy mystery that filled some time. It had me guessing as to who the “bad guy” was. I was happy with May’s choices at the end. 
The narration wasn’t my favourite but was easy to listen to. 

If allowed to rate a DNF I would give it 4 stars. This is a great book but I chose not to finish reading it. It’s many multiple stories to listen to in snippets of time but not for 9 more hours. It would be a great book to own and to read a bit at a time. 

What I didn’t like was the amount of American history. I skipped pretty much the entire first section because of that.
