So... I started watching Fleabag... I think that explains enough
The way I was ranting to my friend waiting for the plot of this book to kick in 😠I like this series in concept but it's execution drives me insane.
Adding that the plot kicks in the last 10 pages and THEN IT JUST ENDS. The same thing happens in the first book. I'm not reading the sequel I'm done

Full of tropes, clichés and all of that. I loved every second of it. Big romcom vibes need it to be a movie on Netflix that I can watch when I'm sad! The book knows what it is and goes full for it.
Basically not good but it worked for me

I'll use this as a review of the series. Interesting story but overall the ending of each book feels like the author is trying to shock you over and over again. Plot twist after plot twist that sometimes just leave you confused and dizzy.
The books have a strong division between the first two and the last two. To the point it feels like a duology.
I feel it would have been better to simplify the story (specially with the ending of the saga) and stablishing the finale earlier on with better clues to solve the mistery as you read. Also it felt like there was too much happening and nothing at the same time.
In the positives I do think the story is very unique and has a lot of charm. Loved a lot of the characters. I would recommend other people to read it as I found the writing and translation to be interesting enough to keep me going despite my dislike for some the choices.
(Last note as someone who does not care much for motherhood the weird started but never fully developed theme of motherhood in this series is a rather strange choice and Ophelia's infertility is treated clumsily at best)

I was really feeling the nostalgia of reading the books and watching the show. I liked reading what happened the night 'Ali' died in comparison to what happened on the show
fast-paced
I didn't find the book to be that controversial and I would summarise it by saying "we hate men as a social group and can like individual men". It all comes from the build up of frustration and anger that comes from existing as a woman.
It doesn't feel groundbreaking or anything to read but I have respect for the shock factor of the book that has started so mamy conversations.
It's very short and there's clear lack of depth when it comes to discussing people of color and trans people. I think the author would herself admit to this as this essay is written entirely from her own experiences as a white woman in a straight relationship.
