Wow I love Beth! She is such an interesting character. Her growth throughout this story is exciting and I was rooting for her the entire time.
If I had not watched the Netflix mini series, I will admit this book wouldn't have been my cup of tea. Having Anya Taylor-Joy in my head while reading this story brought it all to life vividly.
I enjoyed this book despite knowing nothing about chess. My eyes glazed over the game play aspect, but overall this is a great book.

Oh, poor Vanessa.
I cannot begin to comprehend what types of feelings she actually had through her ordeal. The book goes into her mind of what she's thinking, while it's all happening, but I feel like there's more to it.
Every system put in place to protect and help girls had completely failed Vanessa. Of course, I don't blame her but it seems like no one was there for her so she had to think on her own.
This book was deeply uncomfortable to read, but a story worth writing none the less. I think the author knew what she was doing, and her writing was exquisite. It's just a tough subject to write about.

I love Nick and Charlie!!! I can't wait to get my hands on volume 3!!
Great book. Eleanor's story was unique, and hearing the book in her point of view was oddly delightful. I loved her analytical mind and her perspective on normal social interactions.
Nimona was a fun graphic novel. I enjoyed the humor and the story as well. I was rooting for Nimona the entire time.
I found the text really small and difficult to read at times, perhaps I'm getting old!

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for an audiobook ARC copy of this amazing novel!!!
Jennifer McHahon does it again! This gothic tale twists between generations of families. The same pool of water that was magical to some and deadly to others....
I loved this book. It had just the right amount of spooky paranormal aspects as well as some general mystery settings. What happened to Lexi? Mcmahon knows how to seemlessly weave paranormal activity in with the reality just enough to creep you out. You start to wonder if you believe it or not! This book had a few similarities to The Lost Causes of Bleak Creek by Rhett Mclaughlin and Link Neal. I think water is scary as heck so this book was similar to the other, but in a good way!!
The surprise ending had me completely SHOOK and I'm so glad I had a friend on Instagram to discuss it with, because WOW!
5 STARS, of course. I will read anything this lady writes! She's spooky and I love it!!!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for an e-ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book was such a wild ride. Trixie and Lux are such complex characters. They were having to make such big decisions, when they were honestly still kids. The pacing in the beginning of book was a little slow for me, since it's mainly a road trip. It really picked up in the second half as they became more and more desperate to flee and stay together.
The shenanigans in this book were so stressful to me. I'm sure that's what Julia Lynn Rubin was going for. My logical brain made the opposite choice of whatever the girls chose. There were so many red flags that the girls ignored out of desperation or stupidity, who knows. Trixie and Lux were brave, tenacious and full of determination. Their story felt so real to me, like I was there too.
I would like to point out it would have been helpful to maybe have a day tracker of how many days they've been on the road. I had no idea how long it had been since they left. But other than that I liked it!
I really enjoyed this book and I think a lot of people will too!

Oh how I wanted to love this one.
I listened to the audiobook of this book. I was so excited to hear one of my favorite narrators, Tara Sands, as Claude. Then halfway through during the "Clauuuuuuuuuuuuuude" chapter, she isn't the narrator? She shows up again later in the book but it was very odd that they switched it up?
Anyways, back to the book review. This book bounced between Lizzie's story and Emma's story. With several unreliable narrators between them. It was so confusing! There was no mention of when the timeline would change, and you just had to figure it out for yourself. I had trouble connecting with any of the characters and although their story was important, I just didn't care. I had a really hard time with this book, and finished it out of spite.
I wouldn't recommend this one to my friends.

This book was fine. I probably wouldn't have picked it up if it didn't fit a popsugar reading challenge prompt so well.
The girl who wrote the diary in this book was dumb. There's just no other way to put it. She was an idiot. I thought she was naive and silly and made awful choices.
I could have gone without the epilogue as well. Boo.
