This is not your average happy go lucky book. It is intense! I should have prepared myself a little better for that. Once I got used to that I really got into Eve. It is pretty graphic in parts and it deals with a lot of serious subject matter, but it is so well written. So well written.
Death, killings, and rape are normally not my cup of tea, but you have to put everything into context in this future dystopian world. It is not a place that I would like to be. (well, no one would like to be there I imagine)
Eve has been taught such bizarre things and she has such an incomplete view of the world. She is such a smart girl, I would have thought that would bug her more. I know it would bug me to find out everything I had been taught was wrong. I really liked Eve though, I thought she was a really complex character, and I was really invested in her well being. I loved that she wanted to teach the little boys how to read. That was so sweet. And Caleb was such a great guy. I was on team Caleb the whole time- I never gave up my faith in him. He was willing to sacrifice so much for her. He broke my heart.
Speaking of breaking my heart, I was not prepared for all the death and destruction. This book really got to me, it affected me. And even though it made me really sad multiple times, it was great! The story it told was so powerful.
The ending of Eve killed me! Totally killed me. I was so upset, I just sat there gaping for a good few minutes. There are a lot of things left unfinished and I need to read the next book. I have to know what happens. Eve is beautifully written, which is not easy to accomplish when you are writing about such destruction. Great book!

I am two for two on books that have made me cry. Normally, I don't go for books that I think might make me shed some tears. Why? simply put, because I am a big cry-baby. But I am so glad that I put up with my tears for this book because I loved it! Wishless is such a beautiful story. And they were not all sad tears, there were some happy tears too.
The story deals with a terminal illness, so I knew it was not going to be happy go lucky. But even though it was such a serious subject matter, there were still some really cute moments. I loved that. I loved the fortune cookie theme spread throughout the book. I couldn't wait to see what her fortunes were going to be.
One thing I did not like was Johnny. Now I know he was not made to be a likable character, but he really aggravated me. I can't stand cheating, and he was just so flippant about everything. It drove me crazy. Chessie should have had some better sense there.
Other than the johnny shaped slip-ups, I thought Chessie was a very strong character and I loved her! And George, well he was a cutie. I am always a sucker for the nice guy- in real life and in my books. Call me crazy, but mean doesn't do it for me.
I don't want to give too much away from the story, but Wishless is a beautiful, emotional, and touching journey. And I loved every minute of it. I was moved by Chessie's story. Such a satisfying read.

I am always looking for fun, interesting and unique contemporary books. For some reason, unique plotlines are a lot harder to come by in contemporary books. (at least the in the ones I have been reading- leave me suggestions if you think I am flat our wrong)Last Call, however, was pretty unique and certainly a fun read.
I really enjoyed it. I loved how strong the main character was. Novalee didn't take anything from anyone. She was a bit too closed off at times, but that was completely understandable because of her past. I really enjoyed this story. As I was reading, I kept wondering how things were going to turn out. It could have gone in very different directions. And the cool thing is that each of the different paths would have been believable. I liked that the book kept you guessing.
Last call is a really fluid read. It just flows right along- I had no problem reading it really quickly. I enjoyed the story. I would have been really mad at Dean, and I honestly don't even know what I would have done if I was in her shoes. But I will tell you think- the two of them do take one hell of a journey together ;) They certainly had a lot of heat. Last Call is a good read.

This book was a really quick read. But even though it was short A LOT happens in Betrayed. I think it sets up, what is probably going to be a very interesting series.
Alexis' powers are what interested me most in this book. I think her unique combination is going to prove really cool and different. I can't wait to see what she is going to do with her powers and how they develop and strengthen. I hope her powers is going to be the main focus of the next book. Everything happened so fast, and I wish there was a little bit more detail in the story.
I really liked how everything was set in Betrayed. Alexis is from a small, conservative town and she is not the typical resident. I really liked her. I hope we are going to see more of her friend's in the other books, because I would really like to see how they develop and how they react to some of Alexis' secrets.
Sebastian was nice, but we didn't really get to learn too much about him. I wish there was little bit more development on his part. He seemed to like Alexis so fast, it was not very believable. But I can definitely see a really good relationship between them. There were some really good moments in Betrayed between the two of them. I hope to see a lot more of that in the next book as well. :)
Overall, Betrayed was good and I enjoyed reading it. It was a little bit choppy in parts, but the story line was good. I can't wait to see where this story is going to go. It has a lot of promise. I love a good blood witch story! :)

This series is going to be really interesting. I love stories about this kind of magic. I also really enjoyed the mystery that surrounds Shayna. She is an earth elemental but she seemed to be so much more. She was more powerful than her friends and I have a feeling that we are not done learning about some hidden talents from her. I bet there is a lot more to come from her.
I liked her two friends more than her sometimes though. Jodi and Steven were so funny and loyal. I loved how they stayed by Shayna's side the entire time! Even when she was being a little bit of a brat. Shayna was so headstrong that sometimes she came off kind of demanding and mean. I hope there is some growth to come for her in the next book. I did appreciate that she was able to admit when she was wrong at least.
Earth is full of magic and mystery and it is perfect for this month. I love reading magical books like this close to Halloween. I flew right through the story and it kept my interest throughout. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next.
I hope to see more of a certain boy in Shayna's future as well. ;) This has all the makings to become a really addictive series.
