I cannot even tell you how excited I am that this book is going to be a series. I had no idea going in just how much I would absolutely love this book! Barbie Girl is going to me on my top books of 2013 list. I can already tell. This book evoked strong emotions in me, made me completely fall in love with the characters and had me wanting to clear my whole schedule just so I could drop everything and keep reading.
Barbie is one of those rare characters that you don't just connect with, you don't just like- you LOVE her! I thought barbie was spunky, and sassy and just an all around great person. I adored watching her with her little brother Everett. And I thought it was adorable when she started to get a crush on Dylan. I really liked that she was the first one to develop feelings for him. I thought it would have been the other way around because Barbie is so pretty and awesome.
Barbie isn't the only great character in Barbie Girl. Third is great, Dylan is swoon worthy (most of the time), and I thought each character was well thought out.
I could go on for a while about all the things I loved- the writing was incredible, the story telling was perfect, the romance was adorable and sexy, and I am so happy that this is a series! I even teared up multiple times because of the connection I had made with Barbie. It was impossible not to love her. Fans of contemporary/realistic fiction should read Barbie Girl. If you are passing this book up because you think it is a cliched smart guy tutors girl from the wrong side of the tracks, you are really missing out. This is a gem of a book. It makes me want to go back and reevaluate some of the other books I gave five stars too. That was how much I enjoyed it.

Note: this book is New Adult/Adult
I totally fell in love with Someone to Love. It is a love story through and through. There are cheesy moments but I completely ate them up. If you are in the mood for a good love story between between two people that are used to keeping people at a distance, you need to read Someone to Love. It is also H-O-T.
Cruise and Kendall are so completely perfect for each other. They took awhile to get together and then once they did I was really scared that at any moment something was going to happen that ripped them apart. They had their bumps in the road but I was rooting for the two of them from page one. As soon as I met smart mouthed Kendall, or Kenny as Cruise calls her and hot as heck Cruise I knew this was going to be a great book match for me. They keep each other on their toes, which I love. And I also love how much they really value each other. There is this respect and trust between the two of them that is undeniable.
Cruise had his heart broken in the past and as a result he has been trying to sleep with anything in a skirt. He keeps everyone at a distance until he meets Kendall. And Kendall was trying not to become her mother, with a constant stream of guys and husbands. But what I loved most about the two of them was that even though they have both been burned in the past and they have trust issues, they really trusted each other. I do wish they had opened up to each other a little bit more and a little bit earlier. It took them almost the whole book for some of their confessions, but other than that I thought Someone to Love was pretty perfect.
The storyline was also pretty complex. I felt like their were two main characters because the story was just as much about Cruise and his life as it was about Kenny's. We got to know about both of their families and both of their backstories. It was like getting two stories in one. Addison Moore's writing was great and very adaptive. She would speed the story up and then slow it down just at the perfect parts. She really sucked me into the story.
I was totally in the mood for a hot and sexy love story with characters that I could completely love and this book was all that and then some. I was meeting friends for bowling and I had to stop reading and I was actually sad that I would have to put the book down for a few hours. I need to check out more of Addison Moore's books!

Wow, there is so much that I love about Unmaking Hunter Kennedy. I just can't get over this book. It made me so happy and smilie and honestly all the nice feelings I want from a contemporary. It was like She's the Man plus some crazy matchmaking scene plus a pinch of chemistry perfection.
The characters jumped off the page for me. They seemed so real. Hunter seemed real. Dustin (his fake dork identity) seemed real. Vere seemed beyond real. (I finished reading this book two days ago and when I first sat down to write the review it seemed too gushing to me, so I decided I should put a few days of rest between my emotional high after reading this book in the hopes that I would be more clear headed, but I fear I might still fangirl a bit.)
Vere is just this quiet, blushing ball of tiny cuteness. Sure she is super pretty, but she is no where near one of those beyond perfect characters and that is what I loved about her. About all of the characters actually. They each have their share of flaws. Vere is so shy that she turns all shades of red and she can't even talk in front of guys, including her crush on Curtis. Which, I totally didn't get by the way, but maybe that is because he completely paled in comparison to Hunter/Dustin.
On amazon, Anne Eliot says that she "I love to write couples as they are falling in love and learning to trust. It's a vulnerable time when all emotions are exposed. Love stories and first kisses give me butterflies and, of course, I try to write those butterflies into the pages."
She completely hit the nail on the head! This book gave me butterflies and I loved, loved loved watching Vere and Hunter try to trust each other and grow as people. It was a real joy.
The plot of Unmaking Hunter Kennedy is fun too! There are makeovers, and phobias, secrets and watching Vere and Hunter bond was adorable. This book seemed completely real to me. Nothing felt rushed, or forced or fake. Everything was built on, little by little.
I think this is my first 5 star book of 2013 and honestly I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. The only thing I didn't like about this book is that now I am done reading it and I want more Hunter and Vere. I was honestly sad when it was done because it isn't a series and I wasn't going to read about them anymore. I actually miss them. If you are a fan of contemporary romances, you NEED to read this book.

I read a lot of contemporaries in 2012 and I have to say that The Game Changer is my favorite Contemporary Romance of 2012! I just loved it. The characters are awesome. I didn't feel like I was reading a story about Melody, I felt like I was along for the ride with her, experiencing it all as her friend. I wouldn't change a thing about The Game Changer. I loved that it wasn't a super short book, it actually had some meat on it.
As soon as Olivia and Melody moved in together and said that they always wanted to have a cute apartment by themselves like Monica and Rachel from Friends, I was hooked! Olivia and Melody had me cracking up. I just loved watching the two of them together.
But what I really loved about The Game Changer is that even the secondary characters were fully fleshed out and developed. You got to know everyone, and each of their stories was effortlessly woven into the main plot. Marie Landry makes writing seem effortless. She made me tear up in BOTH of her books. (and I am not an easy crier people!) She is just a powerful writer. I loved Blue Sky Days, but I loved The Game Changer even more.
Melody meets Julian, who I absolutely loved as well, pretty quickly in the story but the romance and friendship builds between them throughout the book. No one can classify this as insta-love. This is the real, believable kind of love that will have you rooting for the two of them and sometimes wanting to hit them upside the head so they can just get over themselves and make something happen already! Because you know they are so perfect together, but just like real life things happen, there are ups and downs, and of course, there is change.
The Game Changer is one of those rare books that I fell in love with one page one. I had to put it down a few times because I didn't want it to end. I want to read it again and again. The Game Changer is a must read!

I saw so, so many rave reviews for The Wild Ones before I signed up for the blog tour. I was really excited to read it, and then last week, right before I picked up the book to start, I got a little nervous. I don't read too many "hyped" books right away for my blog. I normally wait a little while. What if I didn't love it as much as everyone? My expectations were pretty high, so I was slightly worried that it wouldn't measure up. Boy was I wrong? I LOVED The Wild Ones. It is one of those books that deserves every bit of praise it got, and then some.
I am such a character driven reader, that if you give me awesome characters that I can relate to, or that make me feel something towards them- it almost gaurantees that I will enjoy a book. And The Wild Ones has such great characters. Trick is amazing and Cami is pretty cool herself. I loved that neither character could fit into their own stereotypical box. Trick was a little bit of a player, at least he was used to girls liking him, but he is also so sweet and caring and responsible. He is so hardworking! I admired him- in more than one way. ;) And Cami and kind and generous, but also fiesty. I loved the extra flare that she brought to the story.
The Wild Ones seriously has it all. It reminded me of an Abbi Glines New Adult book, and you guys know how much I love Abbi! It is the perfect example of the New Adult genre. There is a sizzling romance, a great plot and beyond awesome characters. The Wild Ones made me a very, very happy lady. If you like contemporary romances, or even if you just tolerate them- you NEED to read The Wild Ones. You won't be sorry.

I loved Beg for Mercy. I liked that the book didn't seem super short, when she started going out with Luke, I remember thinking "that was short, now what is going to happen?" and I looked down at my kindle and the book was only at 33%. It made me so happy because the book didn't end with the girl getting the boy at the end, like so many YA books. There is a whole lot of story in Beg for Mercy and I have to say it made me a pretty big fan of Shannon Dermott. (which is hard to do with just one book)
Mercy is a succubus. You find out pretty quickly into the story but I remember the first chapter I was really confused about why spin the bottle seemed like such a huge deal. But after that, the ball really gets going and the story never loses speed. Mercy is inquisitive, and is a quality girl. I thought it was so funny the way she would say that she felt like a harlot after kissing a boy. I felt for her because she was kept in the dark about pretty much everything about herself for her whole life. It felt like a very introspective journey for Mercy. We got to see first hand the effects of being a succubus had on her and how she struggled with herself. I would have liked to see a little bit more about the effects that she had on others.
There are a lot of characters in Beg for Mercy, which I really enjoyed. We got to know a whole crew of people. There are so many. My favorites are Luke and Flynn. I wanted to like Mercy's best friends, Paul and Maggie more but they were both kind of moody throughout the book. They both had their really sweet friend moments and they both had moments where they annoyed me.
The writing is great, and I love a paranormal book that is not about shifters, or vampires. Demons are not as heavily explored in YA yet and succubus and incubus are certainly not, so I felt like I was reading something more unique. Plus, I am kind of in love with Shannon Dermott's writing style. It is so vivid. I am dying to read the next book! I am hooked on this series already and I want, no I need more, more more.

I am on a mythology kick right now, and Painted Blind is hands down my favorite YA mythology book I have read in 2012. It has all the amazing elements of an epic myth but it also has a fantastic romance. I read the book twice already this year!
Psyche is one tough cookie. I loved her determination and sense of humor. I also thought her little quirk was adorable. I mean she is super beautiful and she doesn't like crowds because of the attention. She just seemed so humble. Actually, erik did too. I think that's what made them perfect for each other. But don't worry, this is no easy path to romance for the two of them. In true mythology fashion, there was an epic quest that spanned long distances, and crazy hard tasks.
The world that Michelle Hansen created sucked me in immediately. I could not put this book down either time I read it. I connected with Psyche and Erik. I wanted Psyche to succeed so bad, and I couldn't stop turning the pages- I was so engrossed in the story. The only thing that bugged me a little was the very start of the book. It was when Erik was sent to "take care' of Psyche. I mean, that was the whole reason that he showed up at her school in the first place. but then as soon as he meets her, that is never brought up again in the story. I wished that it would have gotten addressed a little more or maybe saw Erik acknowledge it or struggle with it. But it didn't take anything away from the story and I honestly only even thought about it after I was done reading.
Painted Blind is going to be amazing for fans of romance and mythology! Painted Blind has made me an instant Michelle Hansen fan, and has put her on my must read author watch list. Do yourself a favor and read Painted Blind. And then come back to me so we can squee and gush. :)

Emerald Isle is such an intriguing story that once I started reading it, I couldn't stop. I don't even know what I liked more- the actual plot line and twists and turns or the wonderful romance. All I know is that this was a book that I just did not want to end. Ever.
Audyn got on my nerves at first. Not something you thought I would say since I just proclaimed my love for Emerald Isle, huh? Just hear me out. She knew she was hot stuff and she seemed almost cocky about it at the start of the book. She declared a "boys free summer" and right away all the guys at the resort were falling all over her. Not only was she not surprised that they all liked her- she expected it. Then she met Levi and another layer of herself was revealed. I liked her more. Then she met Tristan and I really got to know the true Audyn and she is nothing like my initial impression of her! I really liked her. She can be vulnerable and sweet and nice and she is such a selfless person. I loved watching her character develop and unfold as the story went on.
Let's be honest- with all the guys at the resort liking her and then with Levi and Tristan showing up out of no where, I knew this book was not going to be anything near a boy free summer. And I was right. There are guys galore, but I only had eyes for Tristan. I liked him almost immediately. Same thing with his little sister. She sure is a spitfire!
I thought the plot twist- this war that the summary speaks about was awesome! I loved learning about the history and about everything really. I'm not going to tell you what it is but it really wasn't some big secret- I had it figured out pretty early on. Well, the basics anyways.
The best thing about Emerald Isle is that it just keeps getting better and better as you read it. It just keeps growing and growing. I'm not sure if there is going to be another book or not, but I really hope there is. The romance in this book is one of my favorites of the year. The only thing I didn't like was the ending. I was just hopping it would go another way. The ending that happened was nice and I liked it, but I would have liked something else a lot more. And the problem is that I had it in my head that I wanted "X" to happen and then "Y" happened. I am still holding out hope that there is going to be another book and I will get my way with how the story will go. Really, I just want to experience the magical romance that Kate Hinderer created! I loved it!
Has anyone else read the book? Do you know what kind of ending I was hoping for? I just don't want to be alone in this haha Let me know!

While it Lasts is Cage's story. Cage was first introduced to us in Because of Low as Low's best friend and total womanizer. This book is part of the Sea Breeze series but it can be read as a standalone. It might be good read Because of Low first just so you can fully understand the dynamic between Cage and Low, since Low does show up in While it Lasts, but you would not be confused or lost if you wanted to read about the Yummy, yummy Cage first. While it Lasts is my favorite book so far in the Sea Breeze series! I wanted to start reading it again the second that I finished the last page. (this book is New Adult, and might not be suitable for some younger teens, so just be aware of that) I have been a huge fan of the New Adult genre because the characters are a little bit older and they are more my age. While it Lasts is hands down, my favorite New Adult book that I have ever read.
I'll admit that I was slightly skeptical of Cage. He is such a big player that I wasn't sure he would be redeemable. But Abbi is the queen of romance and of amazing characters so I was really excited to see what she would do with Cage. And let me tell you, Cage is one of my top book boyfriends of the year. Maybe even ever! He just has these moments. These little adorable moments where you can't help but love him more and more. He is a macho guy but he has this ooey gooey center. I lived for those moments, when he would say something sweet that would melt my heart. I totally love him. He is realistic. He knows his faults and his shortcomings and he owns them. He doesn't make excuses for himself, and man oh man is he HOT! I am pretty sure that I need Abbi to find me a boyfriend because after reading about Cage, Beau and Dank a regular guy just isn't going to do it for me!
Eva is sweet and likable. My heart broke for her at the start of the story. Because of her loss Eva created this strong exterior around herself and I was nervous that she would spend the whole book too scared to let Cage in. But I was pleasantly surprised when she admitted to her crush on the swoon worthy Cage pretty early on. She is spunky, and kind. What I loved most about this book is the connection that Eva and Cage have. It is so strong and intense but it never seems like insta-love. It built up for me at a completely realistic pace. That is the magic of Abbi Glines. She is the queen of YA and New Adult romances. Her male characters are just irresistible. I love her combination of charisma, and just the right amount of protectiveness and jealousy. Her writing just pulls you in, and makes you fall in love. That is how I would describe all of her books. Just like falling in love. Plus the romance between Eva and Cage is just flat out hot. Way hotter than YA books- While it Lasts totally earns every bit of the New Adult title. This book is so incredible. I couldn't stop thinking about it for days! Just writing this review makes me want to go read it again.

I am super glad that I found this series! I love Abby! She is beyond awesome. (And yes, I almost put an exclamation mark on this sentence as well. That is how excited I am about this book.) I loved how many different kinds of supernatural creatures were in this book. It is kind of like an adult Paranormalcy series, but kind of different. haha I know, that was really helpful, huh. But that's what it reminded me of. There is plenty of action, adventure, humor and magic to keep everyone flipping pages the whole way through. I could not put this book down!
Abby is snarky and totally awesome. I loved her quick wit and razor sharp tongue. She certainly meets a ton of interesting creatures. I mean what other story has a pet unicorn, who is so hilarious by the way, as well as fey, incubus, vampires, angels, werewolves, etc all within the same book? I love Ion! I will say that right now. I am all the way on team Ion, even if he is a doofus at the end of the book. Sure, he frustrated me at times but I can't help it, I just love the idea of him and Abby together. You can tell that he really cares for her. I will say that I was disappointed in him at the end of the book. I have not given up on him yet though!
This is an adult book so there are some pretty sexy scenes in the book. They fit in so well with the characters and the story line. I loved how they were worked into the story. I hope book 2 is the same way. The writing is excellent. The world just leaps off the page and I can picture everything so vividly. I fell in love with everyone and everything in this book. I think it is going to be one of my favorite adult series! If you are looking for a well written, funny and addictive series, give the Abby Sinclair stories a try. I am loving them!
