Re-reading this series has been a great joy. My key highlight for this is it’s explores deeper into the history of Hogwarts a bit more and enjoy the conflicts within this plot.
Only reason it’s not a 5 star is compared to the other books this doesn’t bear as much emotional complexity.

I am a big Harry Potter fan and have been enjoying re-reading the series. Revisiting this story I can’t help but love watching the characters backstories develop and seems to really hone in on the key traits of each person.
This is one of my favourites from the series!

Truthfully I didn’t read this until after watching the movie so already knew what I was heading in for. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the movie did stay very true to the book which I overall enjoyed.
That being said I did find Hazel to be far less palatable in the book for some reason. I did feel that the story felt a bit dragged out at times but overall not a bad read.

I wanted to love this book more after really enjoying the first in the series. However just found myself at times becoming a bit bored and not really enjoying any of the characters.

Whilst I didn’t hate this book I can’t say I loved it. This is my first fiction read by Matt Haig and perhaps it’s just not for me. The story line was okay but didn’t feel it was anything overly special.

This book is full of titbits of wisdom and shares a vulnerability which I believe anyone who has experienced first hand the struggles of anxiety and depression can relate to.
It is structured in a way that makes it very easy to pick up and read when you have a few moments or as a long afternoon without feeling lost.
Matt explores his first hand experience dealing with mental illness and in doing so has written a book which creates a little safe space for readers.

I really enjoyed the switched narrative of topics of racism within this book. There are scenes that felt very familiar to ones I had learnt about in history and enjoyed the romantic plot within this that didn’t feel too diluted. The ending was certainly emotional and I would re-read.

A beautiful and wholesome story which gives a loving depiction of community coming together whilst providing an insight into the thoughts and emotions around losing your memories.
You can tell a lot of love and effort has gone into the writing of this novel to explore a POV from someone suffering with Alzheimer’s whilst also those around them in a delicate but touching manner.

Whilst I enjoyed the story line and how well it intwines with the classic story we’ve come to grow and love, I do feel that it could have been more concise as there were parts which felt dragged out and minimal pay off.
I am glad to have read it, you can see the author play around with plot holes from the original and create a new view of them which I enjoyed thoroughly and adding more depth to characters of the original.
Whilst I would encourage anyone who enjoys the movie to give it a read, I can’t imagine myself re-reading this novel in the future.

This has been on my TBR for a while and ended up reading the entire book in one day! I enjoyed the eye for detail and the pace of the book made it an enjoyable read.
I had seen this book blow up on TikTok and lots of raves about the shocking plot twist… without spoiling anything I felt the twist was somewhat predictable but thoroughly enjoyed nonetheless. The characters felt well rounded and the plot was thoroughly thought out and overall just very well written. Look forward to rereading it again.
