This was even better the second time around. I really wish they would have made this into a limited series that closely followed the book instead of the short movie. Hayes and Solene remain one of my favorite couples to read about. See why in my review for the ebook if you haven’t already!

Between the mistakes and grammatical errors, this was just an okay read. I think the last 50-75 pages were superfluous and could have been left out of the book.

This was just an okay read for me. Not as good as Between Friends and Lovers. I found the FMC, Angela, to be very annoying and while she “grew” at the end of the text, I felt she was very unfair to Ricky when blaming him for her own misconceptions about his actions and behavior.

This was something. I’m not sure what I expected to get out of it, but it definitely wasn’t the heavy themes situated throughout the book. The book was very slow in the first half, so that when the last half started unveiling the backstories leading up to the resolution, it all felt a bit convoluted and kind of all over the place. I still don’t know if there was a real resolution here as there wasn’t real justice for the events that occurred. I don’t necessarily think I needed a happy ending, but if felt like there was little accountability for the trauma these girls went through.

This was not that great. The main character was annoying and her lack of accountability for her own stupid actions through most of the book made it hard to finish. I forced myself through the last half.

I’ve had this book for awhile and glad I finally gave it a chance. Maddie (Maame) was a character who was very relatable in some ways. While I’m not Ghanaian or in my 20s, I do understand the weight of having to figure things out and not  like you are fully engaged in living. Her relationships with men were also a highlight of the story. Ultimately, it was the grief she felt after the unexpected loss
of her father that I resonated with the most.

I’m glad she found happiness and peace in the end.

This is my favorite of the series. I love both Max and Olivia. I resonate with Olivia’s character so much…being incredibly ambitious and wanting to think things through before making decisions. I’ve read this book four times, which is telling!
