This is such a fun read. It made me laugh and the romance was super cute. I would say the story was more about Josie and her family rather than the actual romance but it was still extremely entertaining. It’s massively sex positive and a great light read. There are so many amazing supporting characters that I can’t even pick a favourite. Josie was such a lovable protagonist and I would love to be besties with her, and not just because her family are hilarious.

This is book 14 in the Josie Quinn series and it’s just as good now as it was at the start. I love that each addition to the series develops a different character and we get to know more about the team. This book shows us the human side of Chief Chitwood and gives us an insight into his life. It’s a fast paced, twisty read full of suspense and it kept me guessing until the end. A great series that I recommend reading from the start.

This book is a light easy read but not one I would necessarily think to recommend. It’s slow going and not a lot seems to happen. That being said the romance part moves extremely quickly. I struggled to root for them though because they were both so immature. I also found Mel a bit annoying. She constantly states that they’re only having a fling and then gets angry when Nick treats it as a fling. There are a lot of side characters to keep track of as well. I did enjoy the hallmark feel of the small town though.

I am a huge fan of Helen Fields so was excited to dive into this stand alone and it didn’t let me down. Helen sets the scene beautifully and you really feel like you are on the Island with Sadie. It’s atmospheric, kinda creepy, and I really like the mix of murder and superstition. I wasn’t a massive fan of the chapters where the Island is talking to the reader but the writing from Sadie’s POV kept me hooked. There were a few eye roll moments of Sadie putting herself in danger but it helps keep the suspense up. I also really enjoyed the mix of likable and unpleasant characters. I had zero idea who the bad guy was and was just patting myself on the back for working out the obvious twist. The ending was a massive shock and I still think about it now. It was so well written even if I was a little bit outraged. It’s one of those books that when you finish it you have to take a minute to process what the hell just happened.
Just be warned the murder descriptions are graphic if that’s something you want to avoid.

I adore this series. This addition can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading from the beginning 1. to see the characters grow and 2. because it's a great crime thriller series. Bree Taggert is a lovable protagonist and we get to read the perfect balance of work and personal life. Her family are adorable and her relationship with Matt adds a bit of lightness to the murders. The hunt for the bad guy kept me guessing and I was hooked until the very end. I hope we get to see more from Bree

I have read some of Kendra Elliot's books but this was my first from this particular series (#3 Columbia River/#7 Mercy Kilpatrick) and I will definitely be going back to read the rest. It definitely works as a stand alone but I want to read more about Mercy, Truman, and their unconventional family. There are a couple of storylines in this book that weave their way together and I loved seeing how they linked. There are also a few twists and turns to keep you engaged until the dramatic finale.

After the dramatic ending of the last book, I wasn’t sure what was going to happen with Kim and the team next. I was worried that Kim was going to get on my nerves with her acting like nothing affects her and she’s too good for therapy but I was pleasantly surprised. Seeing her character grow throughout the 17 books has been amazing and I highly recommend reading them in order.
The main storyline was heartbreaking but written extremely well. I was kept guessing and I could not put it down. I read it in one sitting. The heart to heart between Kim and Bryant broke my heart and I loved seeing the team back together. I’m also kinda loving the potential friendship between Kim and Frost. I think this was one of my favourites of the series.

I loved M.J Ford’s Josie Masters series but this standalone fell a bit flat for me. It is very slow going and I would also say that the title and blurb don’t really match the story. I was tempted to not finish but I was intrigued enough to stick it out.
The twist was a weird one and seemed a bit ridiculous. Also, the reason Gemma was in trouble in the first place seemed unrealistic. None of the characters were particularly likable. We get the story from both Sarah and Gemma’s POV. Gemma’s chapters are told from the build up to her going missing but I didn’t really connect with either of the women. I will say that the scene setting is done well though and I could really picture the creepy town and spooky moors.

I really enjoy Lisa Gray’s Jessica Shaw series but this standalone wasn’t for me. It sounded like a great premise but in my opinion, the characters let it down. None of the characters were likable so it’s a struggle to work out who you’re actually supposed to be rooting for. The amount of twists and lies was a bit much but I didn't see some of them coming. The story is told from multiple POV’s which was fine but the ones from the detective were unnecessary and didn’t add anything. Overall this was a miss for me.
