This is book 4 in the Gina Harte series. I’ve read book 3 but definitely need to pick up 1 & 2. I’m really enjoying this series and what to get to know Gina more. This can be read as a standalone though. I love Gina and I love that she’s not a perfect person and we get to see how her anxiety affects her day to day. We also learn more about her past and what caused the anxiety which helped me connect to her more.

This book is quite the rollercoaster. The nail that is sent to Samantha’s best friend provides a link between her disappearance and Jade's murder but there doesn’t seem to be any other link between them. Every time I thought I had worked out who it was more information came up and I started to question everything. It really did keep me guessing. I was hooked and could not put it down.

This book switches between the past and present so we get to gradually see what happened to the kids in captivity 20 years ago whilst keeping up with them in the present. None of the survivors were particularly likeable and they just seemed to get worse as time went on but I think that added to the story. I did, however, love DI Sasha Dawson and her team.

There is a lot going on in this book and it does get a bit much. Sasha’s personal life is a mess. She has two bratty kids, an absent husband, a meddling mum with her own drama and a devastating past. It was just a hell of a lot of drama and that level of chaos kind of took away from the main plotline. That being said it did mean we got to know Sasha and her family really well.

With regards to the main story, I did guess the main twists but it was still an intriguing read and there are lots of extra twists and turns along the way. If you love crime fiction/thrillers but hate gore then this is definitely one to check out. Despite previous comments, I did actually enjoy this read and I will definitely be picking up any future DI Sasha Dawson books. 3.5 rounded up to 4

I absolutely adored this book. This was my introduction to Helen Phifer and it did not disappoint. I need to get my hands on her other series asap. The girl in the grave is the first instalment of a new series featuring Forensic Pathologist Beth Adams as the lead and I cannot wait to see where it goes.

This book is written well with well fleshed out characters. I loved Beth and Josh and their friendship was beautiful and so nice to read. Their chemistry really added to the plot. With regard to the mystery part, I literally had no idea. I was hooked and could not put it down. I needed to know the who and the why. The ending was the perfect end to the build of tension and I’m so glad that it wasn’t rushed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be picking up any future books in this series as soon as I possibly can.

I don’t normally read YA but I absolutely adored this book. It’s cute and funny whilst getting across an important message. I honestly wish this book had been around when I was a teen. Every young person who feels the need to change themselves and who they are needs to read this.

Emily is such a great character. She’s funny, confident and strong and I just want to be her mate. She knows it’s not her body that’s the issue but other peoples opinions. This book covers body positivity, childhood crushes, friendships, preparing for uni, complicated mother-daughter relationships and more. Definitely recommend.

I absolutely loved this book. I was hooked until the very end. It manages to cover the stages of a trial without being dull and I couldn’t put it down. It’s such a clever premise and is written extremely well. I wasn’t a massive fan of some of the characters but that just added to the story. I questioned pretty much everything except the main thing I was supposed to. Did not see that coming.

The author manages to tackle some difficult topics extremely well but TW for domestic abuse and rape.

For anyone who is a fan of psychological thrillers and legal/courtroom dramas I highly recommend checking this book out.

This is book 2 in the series and although it can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading them in order. I adore Beth Adams and this series is such a great read. I really enjoy getting to read the forensic pathology side as well as the police procedural side.

I was hooked from the beginning and it kept me engaged until the very last page. I’ve only recently discovered Helen Phifer but I love her writing style. It’s an easy read without compromising on the plot or characters. There are so many loveable characters that add to the storyline and I look forward to reading more of Beth Adams story.

After such a dramatic ending of the first book, I was expecting more from this series. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite deliver. I found this second book so boring, extremely slow paced and predictable. I skimmed a lot of the book and it was a struggle to finish. A lot of the book was written in way too much detail which made me switch off. I do like Iris and Slattery's characters but there personal lives kind of took over the story. The ending was a bit ridiculous as well. The first book was definitely better.

I struggled with this one. It is such a slow starter and then when you think it’s getting good it just blows straight past gripping to ridiculous and over the top. I was not a fan of the ending. However, the who/why was a surprise.

I also thought the chapters from Steven Grant made some parts too obvious. He had to be important otherwise we wouldn’t be reading from his POV. I struggled with the main characters as well and didn’t really care about either Dani or Jason which was a shame.

All in all it’s an okay crime thriller but definitely didn’t wow me.

This is the 6th book in the Josie Quinn series and even though this could be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading them in order. Not only do you get more out of the book if you know the characters' histories, but it is also one of my absolute favourite series and not one of the books disappoints.

I love the fact that we get to really know Josie throughout the series. We get a look into her personal life without it being tedious or overshadowing the main storyline. I also enjoy getting to know the lovable secondary characters like Noah, Trinity, Misty and Gretchen. We also get to find out how Noah & Josie are coping after the trauma from the last book and find out what happened on that fateful night with Luke.

With regards to the kidnapping storyline, I was absolutely hooked. The tension kept me guessing and totally engrossed. I could not put it down. I thought it was such a clever yet devastating back story. Most of the book is from Josies POV with a few chapters from a mystery person. I did find these chapters a little bit confusing at first but it is all explained in the end and adds to the emotions running through the book.

If you love a tense and gripping read with a lovable lead then I highly recommend checking out this series. Lisa Regan has quickly become one of my favourite authors and the Josie Quinn series is top of my list.

I love the Josie Quinn series so much. It is definitely one of my absolute favourite crime series. Josie is one of my favourite detectives, she’s such a strong yet flawed and still human character. I highly recommend reading the whole series because it adds background to all of the main characters. Plus it’s a fantastic read.

The main characters in this series are so well written and they add so much to the story lines. Cold Heart Creek had me hooked from the beginning and is an evenly paced, engaging read. Even though parts of it seem a bit complicated you can always guarantee that Lisa Regan will tie it all together in the end and it will be a great reveal.
