What I especially adored was the portrayal of a non-toxic billionaire. Caleb came from nothing and is intent on paying it forward in all the ways, and uses his money and clout for his family and his friends. He respects prickly Sadie's space, her insistence on making her own way, and her body.

The misunderstanding that threatens this couple is completely realistic, and I appreciated Shalvis's discussion of mental health issues, recovery, and stigma.

I first read Jurassic Park right before the movie came out, around 1993. I was in the 3rd grade and really enjoyed the experience but also a lot of it went completely over my head, especially Chaos Theory, fractals, and the big moral quandaries presented. I was just YEAH DINOSAURS! Dinosaurs eating people!

Now, as an adult, I enjoyed the story even more and I'm excited to discuss with my book club. I run a "Book to Art" club at the library I work at, meaning we make a fun project while chatting about that month's book. For Jurassic Park we'll be dabbling in resin pour!

As with the movie, I really love Dr. Ian Malcolm and wish this quote had made it into the film:

Hammond shook his head. 'Who could have imagined it would turn out this way.'
Ellie said, "Apparently Malcolm did."
"I didn't image it," Malcolm said. "I calculated it."

A promising debut historical romance !

I adored the setting of this historical, America in the late 1800s, and a refreshing change of pace from Regency/Georgian England and seeing how Ursula struggled and triumphed with her heritage in a place where she often met with ignorance. I'm excited to see how this author builds this series!

Isabella lost her first husband while he was serving overseas. She's vowed to never date a military man again. But, when she's set up on a blind date with Ethan Masters, she can't help but think maybe it is time to break her own rules.

As they fall for each other, the Air force K9 handler also begins to believe he may actually be cut out for white picket fences and a wife. But when he's offered the promotion of his dreams, can he and Isabella make it work?

Sweet with just a bit of angst, this is a fine contemporary selection for those who enjoy military romances. I thought the "misunderstanding" between the characters was resolved a bit too quickly and I hated the secret baby ending because that is not my thing.

When Nesto Vasquez leaves his beloved NYC to pursue his dream of making his Afro-Caribbean food truck into a full time career, maybe even a restaurant, he is determined to stay focused. There's no time for other dreams, even if the adorable librarian Nesto serves at the truck inspires some of the distracting, late-night variety.

Jude Fuller is also fully dedicated to making his mobile library bus a reality for youth living in the outskirts of Cayuga who wouldn't otherwise have access to the wealth of materials a library can offer. The same information that saved him as a kid when he struggled to reconcile his attraction to men when everyone in his life told him that was a sin.

Now living a fulfilling and safe, but lonely life, Jude is flabbergasted when the outgoing and sexy chef pursues him.

Flirtation leads to dating, and as Jude and Nesto fall in love, they'll need to learn to balance their career dreams with their hopes for a future, together.

Oh my gosh, this book is adorable, swoony, and so sexy. A fabulous debut from an author to watch, you'll definitely want this one on your TBR immediately. Be sure to eat a good meal while reading, as the food descriptions are drool-worthy!

I loved how this romance is a small-town contemporary, but also recognizes the realities of living in a small community and being out, of being perceived as being "illegal," of being "different," and the good and the bad that goes along with that.

I'm really excited to read more in this series!

Hot, sexy, and just oh so fun and cute, but with SPIES!

Really loving this series.

Aiden Rios is suddenly alone in New Orleans after his client needs to get back to her husband. Nursing a hurricane, loneliness, and some regrets at the posh hotel bar, he wasn't looking for a woman. But he meets Faith.

Daughter to an ambitious woman running for Mayor New Orleans and never feeling like enough, Faith Abigail Charles also isn't looking for anyone. She just needs a break from putting on the perfect image for the campaign, for trying to be what her mother wants her to be without ever really succeeding. But, oh how she wants Aiden.

Aiden plans on telling Faith why he's in New Orleans, but as what turns into a sexy, but kind of not completed one night stand turns into a whirlwind romance, the opportunity to come clean without hurt grows harder and harder.

Another fabulous book by Zoey Castile, I adored the handling of Aiden's career as a sex worker. He's not regretful of what he does, just of how Faith eventually finds out who his client was. And Castile does a wonderful job with her secondary characters, which I'll let you read to find out what I mean. No one is a caricature here.

That said, I did enjoy Stripped a bit more, mostly for the pacing. Aiden and Faith'r relationship forms over a pretty condensed amount of time and I just wanted more time for them both. That said, Castile is definitely one of my new favorite authors!

Definitely don't pick up Deep Kiss of Winter unless you've already taken a deep dive into the Immortals After Dark series (like I have). This story focuses on the vampire warrior Murdoch Wroth of the Wroth brothers, and the timeline intersects with the other Wroth books in the series.

Murdoch is just fine without ever finding his bride, his fated mate. But of course, as soon as he's admitted this to himself, boom. He finds his mate. And oh what a mate she is.

Daniela is part Valkyrie and part Ice Fey, meaning she cannot be touched by any one BUT an Ice Fey, lest she be burned. She's beautiful, ancient, and longing for a man to fulfill the desires she's only read about in her erotic romance novels. Murdoch fits her every specification, minus the fact he's hungry for her blood and a mere touch of his lips can bring agonizing pain.

As they try to to live as lovers without actually touching they also have to contend with the fact Danii might also be the Queen of all the Ice Fey, and Vampires need not apply.

I enjoyed reading this, and found it very sexy, but also just didn't quite buy it when Murdoch actually "fell" in love but oh well. Still liked the edging, sexual tension with the "we can't touch." OH and there was definitely some fun times with an icicle. o.O

Patrick, oldest of the Walshes, is hopelessly attracted to his new intern, the enchanting Andi Asani. Andi struggles to reconcile her desires of wanting Patrick's mentor-ship, a position at the Walsh architectural firm, and Patrick himself.

I adore this Walsh series, but so far this is probably my least favorite. The audio-narration is amazing and compelling and I loved the heat between Andi and Patrick, just I am struggling with workplace romances right now, especially ones that include the boss/employee power dynamic. Andi has everything to lose by sleeping with her boss so I understood her hesitation. And yet.


So, while this isn't my yum, I still enjoyed this story and this clan of siblings. The titles of these books are also so clever. Kate Canterbary is the real deal for me.
