The Serpent and the Wings of Night

Carissa Broadbent

DID NOT FINISH

DNF’d. read the first 25 chapters and while it did pick up in some places it just wasn’t that great. I couldn’t really imagine the characters and it gave me vampy hunger games vibes.

The Madness of Miss Grey

Julia Bennet

DID NOT FINISH

DNF, I read 30% of this book and while it wasn't bad per se, I was bored by the repetitiveness of the same information in each chapter. Also, I'm not a fan of being told information about a chapter and not shown. The FMC is said to be insane but there isnt a clear picture of what specific incidents are supposed to have happened to back up these statements.

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me access to this ARC.

I had such a great time reading the Good Ones Are Taken by Taj McCoy!

I found myself laughing out loud at multiple places in this book and Taj McCoy PERFECTLY describes the agony of having batteries die at the most inopportune time (IYKYK)

I loved the FMC Maggie and how relatable she was as a 30-something single woman. She’s someone I would want to hang out with in real life, and the support system she has is friendship goals.

I loved the amount of body positivity, fun, and sass there is in this book and I will definitely be reading more titles by this author.

Thank you again to netgalley and Taj McCoy for giving me access to the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I wanted to love this book so much. In fact I DID really enjoy it up until about the 34th chapter, (there’s only 38) when I realized that the FMC I had been routing to have a redemption arc wasn’t going to have one, and that she was truly a dislikable character/person. It all went down hill from there and the ending was meh. It was like the author was tired of writing the book and ended the story without giving the reader any closure.

Infamous has been my favorite Minerva Spencer read thus far for the year! It had so many things going on that I loved! Multiple POV amongst the 4 main characters✅ Plot twists in never saw coming✅ a MMC (Richard) who gave me major Alfred Kinsey vibes and does judge his love interest’s “sorted past” ✅✅✅

Pumpkin Spice Cafe was a cutesy, good low stakes read. I mean really, what girl didn’t dream about one day owning their own cafe in a small town?

It was also refreshing to see a MMC being self aware that he’s afraid of getting hurt.

This was one of my first cozy reads, and I’m excited to read the next book in the series!

The Wedding Hitch

Claire McCauley

DID NOT FINISH

⭐️-DNF

I attempted to read The Wedding Hitch by Claire McCauley, but unfortunately, I could not bring myself to finish due to my dislike of the FMC and the pacing of the book.

From the beginning, I found it difficult to connect with or sympathize with the FMC as she came off as rude, and that she honestly did not like her fiancé . Their interactions felt forced and stiff, making it hard for me to invest in their story.

The pacing of the story felt off, with events occurring abruptly and without sufficient build-up or explanation after they did occur.
