The Bible Says So: What We Get Right (and Wrong) About Scripture's Most Controversial Issues
DID NOT FINISH: 9%
I have been following Dan on TikTok for several years and was excited he was coming out with a book about the Bible for us lay folk. At the same time I was a little apprehensive that it would be more of a scholarly read because let’s face in, Dan has a big brain and uses a lot of words I don’t always understand. Unfortunately my apprehensions (for myself at least) turned out to be true and I ended up DNF’ing at 9 percent. I found the book to be very dry and I think the thing I love most about Dan’s teaching style: his personality and wit, got lost in the pages. I do think this book would be great for Bible scholars and people attending seminary, it just wasn’t for me.

I wanted to love this book so bad and I feel like it had great potential, however I found the main character Civil to be shallow, aloof, and at times childish and annoying. I also found that part of her narrative was redundant but never added anything to the plot or helped enhance the story. DNF’d at 79 pages. This book just wasn’t for me.
I don’t know how I allowed myself to get 76% finished with this book before DNF’ing. It became too cringe for me to continue with it being so full of insta-love and ignoring of red flags. This was a no for me.
The Year of Less: How I Stopped Shopping, Gave Away My Belongings, and Discovered Life is Worth More Than Anything You Can Buy in a Store
DID NOT FINISH: 25%
The author comes off as super fat phobic and I’m not interested in their seemed obsession with weight when this book is supposed to be about spending less.
DNF’d. read the first 25 chapters and while it did pick up in some places it just wasn’t that great. I couldn’t really imagine the characters and it gave me vampy hunger games vibes.
DNF, I read 30% of this book and while it wasn't bad per se, I was bored by the repetitiveness of the same information in each chapter. Also, I'm not a fan of being told information about a chapter and not shown. The FMC is said to be insane but there isnt a clear picture of what specific incidents are supposed to have happened to back up these statements.

I attempted to read The Wedding Hitch by Claire McCauley, but unfortunately, I could not bring myself to finish due to my dislike of the FMC and the pacing of the book.
From the beginning, I found it difficult to connect with or sympathize with the FMC as she came off as rude, and that she honestly did not like her fiancé . Their interactions felt forced and stiff, making it hard for me to invest in their story.
The pacing of the story felt off, with events occurring abruptly and without sufficient build-up or explanation after they did occur.

This book was ruined for me by its inconsistencies. How is this man making her French toast on a hot pan with no power?
