This was such a cute comfort read that flowed well, kept my attention, and had me invested in the “will they or won’t they” of Maggie and Tommy’s would be relationship.
@allywiegandauthor knocked it out of the park and did such a great job of capturing the reason people love baseball. This is her debut novel and I am already desperate for the next book of the Chicago Heartbreakers series!
Special thanks to NetGalley for giving me access to this ARC!

The Dead Guy Next Door
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Trying to pull ahead on my book club reads and I really struggled with this book at first. HARD. By page 3 I had already calculated what percentage I needed to read to on my e-reader (11%) before I felt I was in the clear to DNF.
Luckily a friend encouraged me to push through and it turned out to be a cute read. It had way more of a story line than I thought there would be and I found myself caught up in the who dun it of the story.
I’m not sure if I will read the next book in the series, but I’m glad I finished this one and didn’t call it quits.

*Potential Spoilers Ahead*
I have so many thoughts about this book and I’m not even sure where to start.
Chapter 7 had me wanting to skip ahead and go to Google. Who would she go to as her beau? Who should she trust? Am I going to be team Xaden or team Dain?!
Then in chapter 36 SHE BROKE MY DAMN HEART! I felt physically ill and I’m still in a state of shock mixed with denial. I haven’t been this wrapped up in a story since Harry Potter and am considering how much of my schedule I can clear to binge read Iron Flame.
This was an amazing read and I’m already planning to reread it in physical form to see what I may have missed listening to it on audiobook.
See also, was it just me or was the spice SPICING?
