Premise – forced marriage by reason of magic, Elizabeth being a magical badass, Darcy being a stuffy repressed magician, it all works generally. That being said there was really nothing about this story that needed to be about the characters from P&P which was kind of disappointing to me. Elizabeth was scrappy but she wasn’t particularly witty, Darcy was gruff and awkward but also his love felt superficial, like it was supposed to happen but that he wasn’t an active or driving participant. Overall I really wanted to like it but am just left feeling kinda meh. There is a sequel and apparently its a VERY slow burn but honestly I am not really interested in reading any further than this. It’s not bad, its just disappointing.

This book was recommended to me on TikTok and it seemed like such a silly name I was hesitant and then even more hesitant when I found out that the POV character was a dude but holly hell am I glad that I kept reading. First off this book has never met the concept of a slow burn, we were right into the action (and I do mean action) within the first like, chapter or two (I read on kindle so like 8% of the way into the book). Also not a drop of toxic masculinity to be seen – just incredible healthy loving relationships and well adjusted male characters. Separate from how hot the sex is which I will be getting back to this honestly might be the most interesting and creative magic system I have ever encountered. Essentially magic is created by wizards – people who have a natural talent for it, they create a spell which is then able to be used later, and of course, the way to make a spell is through sex. There are different kinds of magic that can be made and of course, different kinds of sex make different magic, for example divination is done by sensory depravation – to see into the future or somewhere else you restrict the senses. Basically everything has a reason and it is so cool from just a world building perspective. And then on top of that, the sex is fucking hot. Even kinks that are not my particular kink the author does such an incredible job describing that I was hella hot the whole time reading it. All in all just really really good, perfect amount of plot where the story is intriguing and not just sex but also lots and lots of sex. Also an incredibly diverse main group of characters and very queer also which is just awesome to see.

This was recommended to me by Tiktok because of course it was. This is a solid stand alone Mafia arranged marriage romance thing, I think there are other books that take place in the same universe but this is the only one that I read. All in all it was fine, the plot was pretty pointless and the climax of it barely made any sense at all but it was steamy and fun. Not much to say about it really, like, 6 plus people dead for touching the protagonist.

 Persephone has been sent to the human world without her memories for some reason and Zeus being the dick he is kidnaps her to compete in the ‘Hades Trials’ which is a competition to win Hades hand in marriage and more importantly for the rest of the contestants true immortality. Persephone has to navigate Hades realm as a mortal, hijinks issue, Hades pines, Persephone slowly re-falls in love with Hades. Clearly I am a slut for Greek mythology so this was obviously my shit. Things I loved about this series – Zeus is a huge dick and the gods are all kind of capricious assholes, the story is really fun and balanced Persephone being a mortal with a mortal perspective with slowly coming to terms with her godliness or whatever you want to call it. I will say while I enjoyed the book a lot the general trend of Persephone/ Hades as oh it was always super romantic the whole time is hugely problematic when it is accepted as fact or positioned as if there is a basis in history for it, I like it as a fun modern story but that trend is super problematic. Ignoring the rabbit hole of original sources this was a very fun read, the story is engaging and well paced for it spanning 600+ pages, the sex was good and contributed to the plot and didn’t feel like it belonged in a different book, the ending is well done and feels like it was earned.

This series follows Bella who comes face to face with the reality that Olympus exists when Ares appears over her dead therapist and tells her she is the goddess of war and that he is going to kill her to take back his powers as Zeus stole his after the events of the first book for getting in his way. He is stopped from murdering her and they go on to have wild and wacky adventures together to get his power back. Basically it follows a similar pattern as the last where they are faced with a series of trials – these ones proposed by Ares’ generals who want to usurp him (because power hunger impulsive violence is the norm in Ares’ kingdom). I did really enjoy the book(s) over all even if Bella and Ares are not really my favorite – both of them tend towards impulsive action without need for diplomacy. It makes sense with their characters but just not as much what I enjoy reading. That being said Ares is just close enough to a himbo that I can forgive it even if he’s just a little too bloodthirsty to really be considered a himbo. Once again sex doesn’t really come into it until about 80% into the book(s) so if you like mostly plot with some (still decent) spice this is your kind of story.
