This series follows Bella who comes face to face with the reality that Olympus exists when Ares appears over her dead therapist and tells her she is the goddess of war and that he is going to kill her to take back his powers as Zeus stole his after the events of the first book for getting in his way. He is stopped from murdering her and they go on to have wild and wacky adventures together to get his power back. Basically it follows a similar pattern as the last where they are faced with a series of trials – these ones proposed by Ares’ generals who want to usurp him (because power hunger impulsive violence is the norm in Ares’ kingdom). I did really enjoy the book(s) over all even if Bella and Ares are not really my favorite – both of them tend towards impulsive action without need for diplomacy. It makes sense with their characters but just not as much what I enjoy reading. That being said Ares is just close enough to a himbo that I can forgive it even if he’s just a little too bloodthirsty to really be considered a himbo. Once again sex doesn’t really come into it until about 80% into the book(s) so if you like mostly plot with some (still decent) spice this is your kind of story.
