Premise – forced marriage by reason of magic, Elizabeth being a magical badass, Darcy being a stuffy repressed magician, it all works generally. That being said there was really nothing about this story that needed to be about the characters from P&P which was kind of disappointing to me. Elizabeth was scrappy but she wasn’t particularly witty, Darcy was gruff and awkward but also his love felt superficial, like it was supposed to happen but that he wasn’t an active or driving participant. Overall I really wanted to like it but am just left feeling kinda meh. There is a sequel and apparently its a VERY slow burn but honestly I am not really interested in reading any further than this. It’s not bad, its just disappointing.
